I've been really disappointed with the mana curve of the commonly suggested win-condition dragons of Red Sphere-Chalice-Aggro . First I'll post what i think are the best ones and why.

Can be played with only 1 red mana source or 0.

Covetous Dragon
Moltensteel Dragon
Wildfire Emissary - Has protection from white, and a toughness of 4
Gathan Raiders - can be played for 3cmc, Large body with no evasion. Needs hellbent.
Lord Of Shatterskull Pass - Large body with no evasion, Level up once is not much of a drawback
Su-Chi - 4 colorless, no drawbacks, doesn't die to Lightning Bolt

There are also the Werewolf transformers that flip when no spells have been played, and then flip back if 2 or more spells were played.

cmc of 3 or less but dies to Abrupt Decay,

Kargan Dragonlord - Mana cost of RR means this card is unplayable
Phyrexian War Beast - 3cmc for a 3/4
Steel Golem - 3cmc for a 3/4

^ I'm way more interested in playing these.

Wondering what you would play?

I don't think anything for more than 4cmc is worth playing....

Covetous Dragon -- There are discussions all over the Dragon Stompy threads about this card. He is really good, but his major drawback is his need for artifacts, and most artifact-heavy builds of Dragon Stompy just haven't been that successful.
Moltensteel Dragon -- He sees quite a bit of play with most DS players these days.
Wildfire Emissary -- His power is really low. I'd rather use Mountain Yeti, and he hasn't been that great either.
Gathan Raiders -- A long time staple of DS decks.
Lord Of Shatterskull Pass -- Saw some play in DS for a while. Fell out of favor after Flametongue Kavu regained popularity.
Su-Chi -- Sure, he has no drawbacks, but he is only a vanilla 4/4 body. I'd rather use something more exciting, like Lodestone Golem or something.
Kargan Dragonlord -- He has seen play as a 1 or 2 of from some players. I personally wouldn't use him only because his CMC is 2 and that 2 is double red.
Phyrexian War Beast -- Good card. I'm not sure how well he fits into a DS shell though. This is one worth looking into.
Steel Golem -- Not very good at all. Your opponent plays a Goyf and you cannot answer with another creature of your own. Restricting yourself like this will only lose you games.

Other cards to consider:
Taurean Mauler -- Can get really big really fast, but dies to almost all the removal in the format.
Sulfur Elemental -- Great sideboard card vs certain decks.
Phyrexian Revoker -- Amazing first turn play to shut down tons of relevant cards your opponent might be playing.

Also, I can understand not liking Rakdos Pit Dragon, but both Arc-Slogger and Thundermaw Hellkite are incredibly good cards that are more than castable in DS, especially if you run Seething Song. I would definitely run one or the other in a DS build right now.
