Legacy Podcasts: Do they exist?

Someone at SCG Seattle asked me the same thing, and I can't say there is. HOWEVER, I'm looking at putting together a regular podcast because most people aren't regular Legacy players/don't know the format yet comment on it.

Anyone interested in helping out? Even if it's just tech stuff.

I loved the scoop phase. Downloaded it every time a new episode was up, and listened to it in traffic. Listening to it was not only fun and informative, but it helped me to ignore whatever ass-hat just cut me off.

Whoever it is that you were doing the show with.....I could never tell if you two were friends, or couldnt stand each other. It was great.

I think I'd make for an amazing podcast. Actually, just bringing a cam to our Wednesday legacy and getting the random idiocy intermixed with Magic: The Gathering would probably be worth it.

I loved the scoop phase. Downloaded it every time a new episode was up, and listened to it in traffic. Listening to it was not only fun and informative, but it helped me to ignore whatever ass-hat just cut me off.

Would love a Legacy podcast. Twitch is the only Legacy content i know of, and that is not as much as I would like. The cast would also add more discussion on these boards which is always fun- at least for non-mods :P.

I think the reason So Many Insane Plays stands out among all the Magic podcasts is that it's really structured. It's not just four guys getting drunk and rambling about the new set or whatever.

I have actually though about just doing a radio broadcast, since most people just put something on and do what they want online while just listening to stuff in the background it'd fit in nicely with that, I actually have the resources to do that but it'd just be me talking about stuff on my own and people would be more interested in the interaction of perspectives between 2, 3 or 4 people than basically, just 1 person ranting.

Basically the important stuff aka research I find the most important, I post already on the forums anyway.

Just a suggestion, but I'd avoid Skype; the sound quality is terrible. I'd go for something like Mumble (http://mumble.sourceforge.net/) instead, which has great sound quality. You can also set the codec up to give you more quality, if you want.

While Skype is convenient, it will put out a lot of static and crap into your audio.

Mumble is a good choice, but the server is a pain to get running correctly (mostly problems connecting). If you guys need help, I can pass questions to a friend that hosts our Mumble server. Otherwise, both Teamspeak and Ventrilo have better quality than Skype, but not as good as Mumble (though you can get it close by setting the codec to use to the highest), and are easier to set up a server for than Mumble.

Edit: Mumble also wins in latency over TS/Vent, but not by enough to really be noticeable.

The first one should be appearing a major website near you by Friday likely, and this one the week after that. This newest one doesn't sound like we recorded it in an empty rusty freighter, so that's a big plus.

I'm not sure what the release schedule will be like, but it'll be once a week. Ideally if we record Tuesday we release Friday, but it all depends on the mixing and posting on the website.

If I could make a suggestion on the way you record.

All of you record JUST your vocal track locally, then whomever edits the podcast sync them up. That way you dont have to have the mute button on off thing going on. I mentioned this to koby when he asked from some podcast tips. We tried ever so unsuccessfully to wrangle on a while back. Not sure how you guys do it, but what I do on my podcast is just start the clock run it for an hour then wrap it up. I really like conversational podcasts, as they feel more involved than podcasts with footnotes. Not saying either way is the right way, its all on the hosts. Anyway keep up the good work, and Ill keep listening.

Feedback is appreciated (but don't put it here, this is a good place to discuss all the podcasts, not delve I to specific episodes) since we plan to do a lot more deck techs. This deck I know very well but I just couldn't fit nearly all I wanted to into a bite sized Intro show.
