Our inaugural podcast featuring Matt Pavlic (sdematt), Sam Craven (theCrav), Sean O'Brien (nedleeds), and myself.

(Link to the SCG video that got misformatted in the shownotes - http://www.twitch.tv/scglive/b/411742703?t=163m)

Enjoy!

Listening to it now!

"Thalia on Thalia battles where everything costs 2 more" ~sdematt. Ha ha, I never thought about that.

I'm surprised you guys could find the time to do this while spelunking.

I didn't realize that nedleeds was Sean O'Brien as in the "O'Brien School of Magic." Why the hell aren't you playing nothing but Mono-black Nether Stax!? You better post that list on your Taken playmat......

Good job guys, not the cleanest audio ever and the levels are a bit uneven (for example when Koby was talking and other people would cut in it was a bit unclear) but that's okay, it doesn't detract too much at all. Also, you had a link to the video which contained the match you discussed but it was a 6 hour broadcast. Rather than people having to find the specific match in that video, you should instead link to the SCG live Blip TV video, which just has that match. Definitely looking forward to hearing more!

I was going to make a joke about your particular brand of spelunking Lochlan, but I think I'll pass

The blip video unfortunately has the most outrageous ads on it I've ever seen. I'm actually incredibly stoked that they showed me I could go to their TwitchTV account and just watch the whole damn tournament with no ads. Because no SCG, I really don't give a shit about real New Jersey housewives.

Not sure what happened to the link, it may not be embeddable. I wasn't in charge of posting it, so don't shoot me.

Looks like the link directly to the time got eaten by the CMS, so I'll be sure to mention the time in the next post.

Good job guys, this was actually the first magic podcast I ever listened to, believe it or not. I liked the in-depth theorizing about the game between Maverick and Deathblade - I've never played either deck but it's still very interesting and *cough* skill-testing *cough* to think about every possible relevant line of play.

Trinisphere is the new Nether Void. I play quite a bit of Trinisphere ... through the 3-ball failed me last night as I attempted to extinguish the light of Griselbrand with the Moon of Blood.

I just listened to it and I have to say, the audio is crap.

However, I find the play by play option informative. Especially coming from Jacob, who happens to be a premier Maverick pilot.

Overall, I like the content. I like the discussion about M14 rules changed although I did feel like you guys missed something: the sideboard rule. Is it relevant? Which archetypes does it help and doesn't? Possibly backed up with math?

Also, I'd be cool to feature "rogue" or not-so-common strategies like Lands, MUD, Food Chain, 12post. As well as how to beat the regular SCG players like Esperblade, Canadian, Sneak/Show.

PS. Can you refer to Deathblade Variants as Bastard.dec and Omniscience/Clash as Omniderp please?

The quality of audio in Episode #1 is a known issue. We've since fixed it for upcoming episodes.

Awesome podcast - thanks for putting this together! I agree with nameless one that having sections dedicated to how to beat major metagame players in the format. Or what the weaknesses are even - maybe let your listeners figure a BIT out on their own. ;)

Then you guys will love episode two, which is exactly what we did.
