In the second episode of Everyday Eternal, Matt Pavlic (sdematt), Jacob Kory (koby), Sean O’Brien (nedleeds), and Sam Craven (theCrav) discuss the results of the most recent Star City Opens, with a focus on the newest bully on the Legacy playground, Deathblade.
We also spend some time with our thoughts on Modern Masters and GP Vegas. Check it out here! (http://www.eternalcentral.com/?p=4036)

I don't have the time to listen to this yet, or maybe I will while doing my readings for my online history class, but I wanted to share some thoughts I posted in the "Going on a Limb" thread regarding Deathblade:
Going on a limb #2: Deathblade/Todd winning SCG this weekend should be an indicator of how underplayed aggro is in the format, especially Affinity. I don't even run Etched Champion anymore, but if I ran my previous builds that focused on hitting my opponent with an unblockable 10/2, I could easily plow through Deathblade like it was a fat chick since the only way that deck can connect a hit with a Jitte while I have Etched Champion in play is using its 1-of Clique, in which the Deathblade player might as well be playing the lottery.
Seriously, you could take a suboptimal build like the one I just described (believe it or not, Etched Champion is suboptimal) and run train on Deathblade. Nedleeds (ha!) to say, I can beat Deathblade badly with what I run now. But the fact that Deathblade is just Esperblade minus Lingering Souls and EE surprises me that Affinity players haven't been wetting themselves in the pants to know one of their matchups just got pathetically easier.
Looking forward to hearing the podcast, and nedleed's ranting (I like angry characters on podcasts, the contrast makes the podcast less boring and more engaging).
Thanks for the feedback Shawon. We'll be sure to give Sean an extra minute to froth at the mouth for this week's recording.

I tried to make the podcast incompatible with all Apple devices because of my undying hatred for that company and all their followers, but then Koby couldn't listen to it. We are recording episode 3 prior to me going to suffer through WWZ -- which will surely illicit some raging.

Really awesome content, guys. The MM and Playmat rants were hilarious, specially the bit about tearing up their Tombstalker
I also appreciated the SCG open discussion, which pretty much sums up my disgust at Double Standard/Sealed Standard weekends. While I live in another country, live video coverage is a great way to pass time on boring sundays.
Looking forward to the next podcast,
keep it up!

Recording after you get back from WWZ would probably be more entertaining, but obviously more logistically obnoxious.

Ha ha ha, story about Steve Argyle had me laughing. He's actually a really nice guy, but I'm surprised he let you walk away w/ a mat at $20 – he wants $50 for mythic rare artist's proofs. (To be fair, he only charges like $2 or something for the commons.)

No he was super cool ... he actually used to print playmats of all his art -- including shit he did for the Star Wars RPG (fucking Vader). But he got C&Ded by Luca$Art$$$$$ and Wotc. Anyway, I was desperate and needed a mat so blood covered japanese cumslut it was. He actually had a broken hand but had a stamp made for gencon to still at least sign stuff for people; he works has ass off going from show to show.

Yeah, he totally had his stuff together for when I saw him recently (at Spectrum). There's a handful of artists I like running into because they're open and chatty; he's one of 'em.
Unfortunately, I couldn't afford to buy anything from him this go around; I'll get him next year (or in July, if he'll be at Comic-Con). As ridiculous as it is, I really want a Chandra Ablaze artist's proof; the more I think about it, the more I rationalize the $50 price tag. I'm really bad at numbers and money, obviously. That's the nice thing about going to cons consistently ... eventually, you've got all the stuff you really, really wanted and you're down to the stuff you just really want.

Really love the content, and the end banter was really entertaining.
My only constructive criticism is editing out the 1-2 second pauses before people jump in. I understand you guys aren't sitting around a room together, so it's a little awkward trying to judge when people are going to finish their sentence. This is probably something that will just fix itself with time anyways, as you all get more comfortable with how people speak.
Good stuff overall, excited for the 3rd.

There's a random 5 second pause in the middle of the podcast that I just noticed, but this is due to a musical spot that was going to be there, but wasn't.
Next podcast's discussion is also very interesting. Stay tuned!

Thanks for the feedback - I cut out a bunch of 'em, but it's easy to miss some when you listen to it 4 times over and you're just sick of hearing Sean talk about his playmat for the 4th time :P
I'll try to go over the next one a little more closely next time.

We are super conscious about overlapping so I think we all overpause. In addition we've got normal recording equipment so if we all jam together Sam can't back it out as easy. With a 2 person show I think it's much easier but with 4 it can be tough to know who wants to jump in; maybe we need to fire somebody. Or breakup the band and start 2 bands. Or have a feud like in pro wrestling. We can have storylines under the podcast where members shade in and out and join other podcasts; then jump back in and hit people with folding chairs. Thoughts?

A minor point, but I think that at the start, when introducing each person, each person should say something after their name is said. It doesn't have to be complicated, just a simple "hi everyone" would do. The reason for this is that when you have a podcast (especially one with more than 2 people), it's really useful--especially for a new listener--to actually know what voice belongs to each person.

Love the podcast, I definitely look forward to future episodes.
From Episode 1:
-I thought the play by play discussion was great. Analyzing the different lines of play like that is much better for learning strategy than you get from reading most of the Legacy articles out there. I hope you guys continue with this.
From Episode 2:
-Great sound quality, glad to see that fixed.
-I enjoyed the in depth analysis. I hope this continues at least on a semi-regular basis.
-I agree with the reasoning for the lack of Omniderp decks in the top results. Its nice to play every so often but it gets boring after a few times playing it.
-I loved hearing Matt's response to Modern. I also enjoyed the Playmat discussion and Tombstalker bit.
Topic Suggestions:
-What started the pimping process for all of you? I imagine everyone started with English cards, but what was the turning point that made you turn to Korean/Russian/etc. Also, what is your current favorite pimp card that you own?
-Maybe every couple weeks talk about cards you feel are underplayed in the current metagame or at the last Open.
-More random banter. Good/Terrible plays you've seen recently would also be interesting to hear.
Thanks for putting out such a great podcast!

If you guys are going to cover/discuss OmniDerp, can you refer to it as OmniDerp please.
Also, can we all refer to Deathblade as Bastard.dec. The list is essentially a bastardized version of Stoneblade/Rock/Junk decks depending on how you look at it.

We definitely want to continue play by play, but we need to find footage where "the wheels fell off the bus," so to speak. Watching someone drop 3 Noble Hierarch into a known D. Sphere is not ripe for discussion, someone just fucked up. Ideally, I'll start recording my legacy testing sessions and we can analyze them.

Stoked you guys are continuing these. I've listened to both, and you've had good things to say. It's clear from the thoughts you share and your deck/game analyses you're knowledgeable Legacy players, credentials which are clearly lacking in many internet articles/videos.

Listened to the shows. The sounds was a massive improvement on the second episode. Intros to identify voices would be good (did one of you play EDH Karn at Geneva Airport?)
The discussions for your preference of German foil, views on modern Tombstalker, first world problems with Scavenging Ooze editions, and Top 8 Vegas proposals were excellent. Keep up the good work.

Wow you should work for the NSA here in the states. Yeah that was me .... you guys let Karn the pacifist live too long and were rewarded with infinite flying, hasted, trampling Blightsteel Collossi for your troubles

Entertaining. As others have said could do with a better introduction of who is who; while we know names that is not the same as voices.
To whoever wants to rip up Tombstalkers, and I guess on pimping in general, I traded my FS Gofys and Stalkers away to get the superior MM edition so I do not have to have that ugly Future Sights border. I also try and exclusively use English cards so that my wife, or anyone I lend decks too, can actually play them.

The song is Film by Aphex Twin and I picked it because honestly, I was tired of working on this and it was the most played instrumental track in my iTunes library.

I like the tune, wasn't complaining. It was just weird hearing that for the first time since I'm so used to hearing "I'm John Dankowksy, and this is Where We Live" as soon as I hear that Aphex Twin opening.
Anyway, I'm 100% a fan of shitting on Modern and 100% in favor of triple and double-day Legacy Opens. Deathblade is a good deck, but as you guys point out, there are a lot of glaring weaknesses. I don't know or remember if you mentioned, but it also seems that Deathblade not having Spell Pierces and having a slow clock even with Geist leaves it wide open to be just straight up wrecked by Progenitus.
Notwithstanding my blatant bias towards Legacy, the points you guys make about Modern are really true. The bannings WotC are announcing every few months will end up being their own undoing of the format they are trying hard to push.
Wanting to hear the podcast just reminds me that I have to get some new speakers, because I can barely hear shit with these terrible i-Phone buds.
