I'd like some input on a deck I've been trying to force for a couple of weeks now. The idea is coming from a BUG Delver deck, and basically just throwing Red in for Pyroman over Delver. The only issue I have right now is - obviously - mana.
// Creatures: 10
4 Deathrite Shaman
4 Young Pyromancer
2 Tombstalker
// Spells: 30
4 Brainstorm
4 Cabal Therapy
4 Gitaxian Probe
4 Lightning Bolt
1 Ponder
3 Thoughtseize
2 Abrupt Decay
4 Daze
4 Force of Will
// Lands: 20
2 Wasteland
4 Polluted Delta
4 Scalding Tarn
2 Bloodstained Mire
4 Underground Sea
2 Volcanic Island
1 Tropical Island
1 Bayou
The sideboard will be put under some scrutiny once I've figured out a good way of making the mana work for me.
I've not had many problems casting Spells, and didn't when I played less coloured sources, but I just keep dying to heavy and aggressive Wasteland usage. I don't know if this is reflective of anything, but I play in a fairly Waste-heavy metagame, so this is a huge problem. I have not taken this to an event yet, but there is an event this Saturday I shall be taking it to, provided I can get together the cards I am missing. I'd really like some help figuring this out, as the BUG Delver deck was incredibly strong (see the Team America Aggro/Tempo thread in the top section) and I'd really like to use Pyromancer to the same effect. The two main takeaways from the deck were that Deathrite Shaman and Tombstalker won you more games than anything else. Sometimes you got stupid 'Delver, Counterspell, Brainstrom, Waste, Counterspell, it's over' hands, and this deck clearly lacks those free wins, but a T2 Pyroman , Counterspell, strip your hand with some combination of Cabal Therapy and Gitaxian Probe or Thoughtseize has been incredibly strong. I'm also going to be looking into a Stoneblade variant so that I'm not entirely reliant on getting this to work, and borrowing lands and things, but this would probably be my preferred option.
