awesome report.

would a set of SDTs be redundant?

in my opinion SDT is a slow card, maybe 2 SDT + 2 Preordain a good idea?

Feline, having seen you play Combo with incredible speed, you should have no fear of going beyond time as a result of your actions - you play the deck swiftly and with a near-minimum of fuss. In fact, I think the longest decision I've seen you take only took about 15 seconds max. I'm pretty sure that was an anomaly. Don't worry about it so much. :)

A spectator shouldn't remind anyone of missed trigger. It is the kind of thing that could get him a match loss if he's playing in the tournament. I don't think you should have scooped to a missed pact trigger. You should have called a judge that would either not put it on the stack or put it on the stack. Then you can pay and continue to play.

Yea but if I had won that game because the judge would have let it slide for some crazy reason, I wouldn't have felt good about that at all. I would have still scooped. I forgot & to me that was all there was to it. At least, that's how I felt about it.

I totally agree with this. Spectators, whether in the tournament or not, should NOT be commenting on the gameplay during a tournament match. It is your opponent's, and the judges job, to bring those things up at the right time. Not a passer-by.

This one I'm not sure of. I think it boils down to personal choice. But I know, had I missed a trigger like that and someone in the crowd pointed it out and not my opponent, I'd have immediately asked for a judge! You know, like winning a match over a missed Meditate or something.

I do get where you're coming from. Ultimately you did what you felt was right. Don't feel bad about that.

Pact of Negation's trigger has a default action (lose the game), and if you miss it, a judge will resolve it immediately (without using the stack), no matter how many turns have passed.

Feline, I always love your reports. I look forward to more of them this Winter.

There will be a lot more come October. Once that hits I'll be doing every Open but Indianapolis & Rhode Island, unless my world comes crashing down in the next 6 weeks ha ha!

This. As a High Tide player who's also an asshole, I used to revel in extending the clock and winning in turns in those matches when my opponent was too impudent to lose to me in a reasonable amount of time. Seriously, you're playing the most self-indulgent, masturbatory deck in the entire format, enjoy the notoriety.

I played your list of high tide at SCG baltmore, dropping after going 2-2 to not grind out the remaining 5 rounds. Some questions for you Feline...

Against a number of opponents, I found it easier to loop tops and brainfreeze kill instead of generating the mana for BSZ. Does that resonate with your experiences?
Top slowed down the deck by about half a turn but enabled some really nice sequences to play around potential disruption and a much harder time fizzling post spiral in my eyes. Will you continue to uses Top for now?\
Not so much a question as just an observation: I feel high tide is an acceptable choice for SCG events. High tide is really hard to disrupt and the addition of top makes things much harder to stop. I made a lot of mistakes playing the deck and with tighter play certainly felt I could have gone much further in the event. The slower, more controlling pace of high tide seems ideal in a midrange environment and few other combo decks can shrug off an resolved Thalia so easily
