Primer soon to follow:
This deck really stems from blade control when blade control was facing problems against deathblade and another deathrite decks. The inclusion of red allows for cheap removal with grim lavamancer and bolts to kill off the weak creatures those blade decks offer.
The deck has pretty good matchup against merfolk, miracles, and other combo decks. however, the biggest problem facing this deck is punishing fire.
Like most blue decks with cheap 2/1 creatures, fighting punishing fire is always the problem.
There are no wastelands maindeck so beating up on grove makes it pretty difficult. Same with dealing with maze of iths or other utility lands. However, having 22 lands maindeck makes getting wastelanded out pretty difficult.
The deck doesn't have card advantage as good as deathblade, but it also doesn't face terrible topdecks like deathblade.
