In episode 7 of Everyday Eternal, Matt Pavlic (sdematt) and Sam Craven (@TheCravenOne on Twitter) delve into more detail about the playability of M14′s most talked about card: Young Pyromancer. Warning: Deck discussion and brewing ahead! Our hosts also address the growing presence of combo in the Legacy metagame, and what you can do to fight it. Omni-Tell and Tendrils are the lessons for today, but the same can be applied to many of the other major combo decks.
As always, the guys open up with some discussion of recent events. This week, they also spend just a couple minutes analyzing the prevalence of Shardless BUG at the invitational, and the UWR Delver/Stoneforge deck thats been gaining traction recently.

@ Omni-derp:
I want to point out that Thalia taxes spells under Omniscience. Trinisphere also makes everything cost :3: under Omniscience.
While we're at it, Trinisphere makes cascade triggers cost :3: more to cast.
Honestly, I think U/B Tezzerator is positioned to be great at the moment. I men who can beat a Chalice at one paired with Notion Thief?
Chalice at one shuts downs Brainstorm and the rest of cantrips. A three card combo deck or engine combo decks can't function properly without finding their pieces.

Didn't even think of this! As if our podcast doesn't have enough of a hardon for staxx already! :P

Thanks for putting this together once again. I like the the cast without having to rely on notes because I also listen to it while I'm commuting. My only comment will be that the volume was a bit low overall, it would be great if you could just raise it a notch or two.

This. Thalia is very good vs the deck. Basically I've found any combination of two hate bears is usually enough. But then again I pair my hate bears with chalices to be another hate card...

seems like young pyromancer should get played in that URW delver SFM deck. 1/1's suck in general but when its carrying a jitte its solid.
also, omni is very weak to discard in game 1 before leyline of sanctity. The deck doesnt really have protection other than 4x fow so, thalia is awesome, and pressure is great cause sometimes they just durdle around hence the omni-durdle

Awesome podcast. Can't wait for the next one.
I'll echo that one better cards against the MonoU variant of Omni-Clash is Flusterstorm. Most of the mono blue lists are only running Force of Will and Pact of Negation as their main deck protection making it really difficult for them to beat Flusterstorm in a counter war over Show and Tell.

Hey guys,
Thanks for the podcast, any chance I can be put in touch with the pox player with Nether Void? I've been attempting to build a pox/void deck for a year and cannot seem to make it work. Would be keen to share some tech, I have to say the Drop of Honey idea interests the heck out of me!
Cheers

I'll echo the request to pump up the volume. I have trouble hearing this podcast on the bus. If it helps, as a reference, the So Many Insane Plays Podcast has perfect volume on Kevin Cron's voice.
A note on Countertop versus Storm. I'm not sure that I'd leave a 1 cc on top when mana gets low. You can always threaten to put Top on top. So they already have to play around that trick. Then again, Storm can run a 1 cc early to check for such a case. Depends on your read I guess.

Is there an every day eternal 8 in the pipeline?

Yes, Nine is on the way. Again, scheduling difficulties and work are really making recording the podcasts a pain. However, we're trying to clear schedules and find times to record and edit so we can put them out on a more regular basis.

When I first saw UWR Delver months ago online, I immediately dismissed it as a worse Blade Control deck (I didn't call it UWR Delver in my head) with Delver in it. Of course, with Sam and Matt's commentary, it's easy to understand why it's called UWR Delver rather than UWR Blade with regards to being more focused on tempo than control, and the copious amount of removal in the deck allows it to prey on the metagame, specifically DRS-centered decks. Perhaps it's good that I listened to this episode before SCG Philly, since I did take my match against UWR Delver seriously. Or maybe it was because the opponent I faced was trying to screw me on every rules angle, which kept me sharp, but I digress.
I never noticed the interactions between Matt and Sam by themselves, but it seems they have good chemistry on podcast. Not that I don't like Koby or Sean, as they were sorely missed this episode, but it was interesting to notice. They did a good job explaining how to go about fighting combo, both OmniTell and Storm.
As someone who constantly tries to think of new tech against OmniTell, thoughts on Curse of Exhaustion as anti-Omni hate? It may be a reach, but it has some benefits. You can still interact as normally, except they can play only one spell per turn (no matter the card type, I might add), and you practically won't have to worry about them defending any of their spells with counters since they won't be able to counter them. It might not be worth it, but it is something sweet to fetch with Enlightened Tutor. Maybe something to consider in Miracles, Sam?
There's also Dovescape, but I can't imagine the awkwardness that card would entail in a Omni matchup o_O

Ha countered your 12 mana spell! Gets attacked by 12 Fliers. Dovescape plus Illness in the ranks. Now thats what I call a hard lock. Get on that Enchantress players
