I can't find a thread for this, and I wanted to see if anyone else had any opinions. I saw this deck running around SCG Baltimore, but I never got a full deck list out of anyone. So here's a simple deck list I put together - surely there's stuff missing. Lets see if we can make this a competitive deck, it seems like a lot of fun!
Lands (20): I based the lands on RUG Delver with the addition of two more lands to get the total up to 20. I'm thinking it might need to be 22 just to ensure we can hit the occasional three drop. However, most of the deck is CMC 2 or less - so for now I'm sticking it at 20.
3 Tundra
3 Tropical Island
1 Savannah
4 Flooded Strand
4 Misty Rainforest
1 Windswept Heath
4 Wasteland
Creatures (21): Galerider, Crystalline, Muscle, and Predatory slivers seem to be the backbone of the deck's creature base. From there I added some utility in the form of Harmonic and Phantasmal Image, and a little combat trick in the form of a singleton Shadow Sliver.
4 Galerider Sliver
4 Crystalline Sliver
4 Muscle Sliver
4 Predatory Sliver
2 Harmonic Sliver
2 Phantasmal Image
1 Shadow Sliver
Spells (19): Pretty standard Bant agro/crntrol spells. A mix of removal, counterspells and cantrips. I'm not sure if the Ponder's are necessary, so they are free to go if we need them to. I wanted to fit in Spell Pierce, but needed the space for swords to Plowshares.
4 Daze
3 Force of Will
4 Brainstorm
4 Ponder
4 Swords to Plowshares
So, that's a start. Lets look at the card choices, and other options we might consider!
Lands
Tundra/Tropical Island - Straight forward. These are the base of the mana for the deck.
Savannah - Not sure if I like this, but in quick goldfishing I did find myself in places where fetching this was needed (for a Swords to Plowshares at instant speed, usually.
Flooded Strand/Misty Rainforest/Windswept Heath - If the Savannah is in the manabase, then we need to stick with a mix of these three fetches. Otherwise, any blue fetches work.
Wasteland - Any agro deck needs a way to disrupt it's opponent. What better way than to eat their manabase!
Creatures
Galerider Sliver/Shadow Sliver - Evasion is the key to killing, especially with things like Tarmogoyf on the rampage. One of those would stop the ground war in its tracks.
Crystalline Sliver - Suck it Kira, Great Glass-Spinner, this sliver is just so much better than any other way to dodge targeted removal!
Muscle Sliver/Predatory Sliver - Standard Lords
Harmonic Sliver - Counter Ballance, Ensnaring Bridge, Omnicience (lol)! Any problematic artifacts or enchantments get eaten by this dude - or any sliver after him. Great utility card.
Phantasmal Image - There to be extra lords or Crystalline if necessary.
Spells
Brainstorm/Ponder - Standard tempo cantrips. I'm not sold on the Ponder's being necessary. Perhaps in a build with Aether Vials they could be Sinew Slivers?
Force of Will/Daze - Again, standard tempo couterspells. I wanted to find room for Spell Pierce, but just couldn't
Swords to Plowshares - get's rid of that annoying Tarmogoyf!
Now, is there other stuff we can put in here... Sure, here's some stuff I came up with off the top of my head:
Other Slivers
Sentinel Sliver - Potentially a blowout when facing down other swarm decks. You get to alpha strike (with potentially unblock-able creatures), and still get to block!
Sinew Sliver - I'll be honest, I missed this guy in the initial build. Do we need a 3rd lord?
Sliversmith - Turn dead draws into more slivers? (not really a sliver either!)
Talon Sliver - Another potential crazy card for the agro match-ups.
Victual Sliver - Sideboard for burn?
Necrotic Sliver - Black splash to turn all of your creatures into Vindicates.
Bonescythe Sliver - Getting expensive, but maybe as a 1 of in a 22 Land manabase?
Shifting Sliver - I think Shadow Sliver and Galerider Sliver do this job better, but this is an option for additional evasion.
Other Stuff
Aether Vial - I mean it is a creature deck. I feel like we'd have to drop a lot of the non-creatures spell though, and keep the mana count low.
Standstill - Card Draw much? With a crystalline and a winged sliver in play, we could create some pretty dominating board states.
Mutavault - Another sliver!?
Ok, I know there's more cards out there that would fit into this deck, or other methods of building it. Is Bant the right colors? Why not include Red or Black? Lets do this and make this deck rock Legacy! :)
