Hi there, sorry if this is in the wrong section. I've been going on facebook pages/subreddits/forums for a bit trying to find legacy events or players on Long Island.
I've been playing MTG since around May, MTGO pauper, paper limited, and paper standard. I'm not really a fan of whats in standard now, and id like to have a stable deck for a while. So thats when i thought about getting into legacy, as well as because i really like a lot of decks. I've kind of fallen in love with Dredge and its varients, and i just bought non-LED dredge with cards also for manaless. Problem being i know NO legacy players or events here, all i've seen played is Limited, Standard, and EDH.
Bottom line is i was wondering if anyone here plays legacy on Long Island, knows anyone who does, or knows of events here. Help is appreciated, thanks!

It really depends on how much you want to travel and where you are on the island. I would try the Comic Book Depot in Wantagh or the 20side store in Brooklyn.
Keep in mind you happen to be in one of the best vintage areas in the country, so if you like dredge, you can proxy up some bazaars and find tournaments pretty easily.

I actually live about 5-10 minutes away from the Depot. I did notice when i started playing there stuff about vintage tourney's, and they did allow proxies. I didn't know Vintage was a big thing here, havent seen much else about it besides the 2 tourney's. I'll look into it though, haven't seen anything regarding legacy or people playing it there.

For some reason, Legacy is not popular on the Island. I tried a few times to get it going at Mark's in Valley Stream when I lived there, but it never really took off. Not that we really promoted it much, but most events were me bringing down 6 decks for people to play and then a few other people playing. It was fun, but never really became a regular thing worth running.
With some advertising, I bet you could get it running at Depot or Mark's, but like was said earlier, people tend to play more Vintage, 10 or 15 proxies around there.

I'm probably going to go in this weekend and talk to regulars/employee's/the owner about legacy players or interest in events, i've been playing on Cockatrice and i'm really into the deck and am getting into the format.

I know the guys at Mark's better, since I lived 10 minutes from there not all that long ago. If you pop by, see Jesse, he works there, I have no doubt he'd be supportive in helping you get events run there. As for Depot, I don't really know anyone by name to really recommend, since I only played Vintage there occasionally.
