As I was asked from several users if there's the possibility to meet (for testing/hangout/chatter/Sightseeing/etc.), I thought it would be amazing to open this for all Sourcers and setup a Source-Flashmob in Paris and all enjoy a relaxed dinner the night before the trial-carnage aka Thursday the 31.Okt!

Input from local (Restaurants, Shows, Bars, etc.) is highly appreciated!

Guys, come play at Magic corporation (boulevard Beaumarchais, 75011) for a last time test in Paris before BoM on thursday night.
Tournament, 4 rounds, 5 euros, 6 points or more get prizes (Theros Boosters unfortunately), pretty competitive environment, finishes toward 11pm but you should be able to find a good restaurant either in bastille (Indiana bastille should be open at 11pm) or in le marais.

Best couscous in paris not so far: Chez Omar, 47 rue de Bretagne, 75003 Paris (No booking, come early or late if you don't want to wait).
If you want to feel home (For US guys) try Joe Allen, 30 rue Pierre Lescot, 75001 Paris.
Any Brasserie should be ok if you want to eat typical french food.

I wish I could do the BoM in Paris this year. Unfortunately, it's gonna have to wait for the GP in February!

indeed if you want to play magic magic corp could be a solution but if you just want to spend some good time a diner with some people who's going to the BOM i guess would be nicer. because after we would play during 3 days non stop so a break and chatin could be good.

For the place to go it depends on timing and where people are located. if your hotel for the bom are near la defense nanterre reach bastille is quite easy but far away too.

so first step would be to know where people are located in order to find a central meeting point

I expect most peeps have taken rooms near the event-hall, so looking around there should be the first option

Dood, i'm not heading to France to eat at McDonalds or such. That would be a pure insult to the french cuisine

I will be staying withh most of my friends at the Campanile right in front of the event site. Maybe we'll make it to the Thursday tournament you mentioned. When is it supposed to start?

It's not right near the event place, it should take you something like 40 minutes to go there by train :) (RER A from nanterre to Chatelet, then take metro 1 to bastille, go out at boulevard beaumarchais, and walk just 2 mins).
It starts at 7.30 PM ends at 11PM.
30 Places. I guess you should call before going there because some people might have the same idea, and lot's of people might want to test.

It's at magic corporation 24 boulevard Beaumarchais. 09.54.21.07.25.

here's a link to the tournament reservation page: animation.magiccorporation.com/?op=calendrier&jour=31&mois=10&annee=2013.

If you want to train for Bazaar of Moxen, you have a tournament on thursday at Magic Bazar in Paris, a Last Chance Qualifier for Legacy French Cup which is also a Trial for Bazaar of Moxen.

If you're not preregistered, you can register on the venue at 10:00. The tournament starts at 11:00.

Magic Bazar
13 rue Edouard Jacques
75014 PARIS

See you soon.

Can someone from Paris please tell us, which train ticket would be the best to buy to get around the city between Thursday and Monday?

Also, how do we get from Paris Gare de l'Est to the Magic Bazaar tournament in the 13 rue Edouard Jacques on Thursday?

Your help will be much appreciated!

This. Hopefully there could be something planned for this, too.

The BoM tournament will take place here:

Espace Chevreul
97 Avenue de la Liberté,
92000 Nanterre, France

"Nanterre" is a city close to Paris, west of "La Défense", Paris' business center. You can go to the tournament by train. To do so, you need to take the RER A (direction Saint Germain en Laye, Poissy OR Cergy-le-Haut) and get off at Nanterre Prefecture. You then have a 10-min walk to the tournament (see the link above for more info).

In Paris, there are two kinds of trains : http://parisbytrain.com/metro-vs-rer/
- "Métro" = subway system for central Paris and very close cities
- "RER" = central Paris plus much of Ile-de-France

There is also a system of "zones" ( http://parisbytrain.com/paris-transportation-zone-map/ ). The fare changes depending on the zones you are traversing. Nanterre is in zone 3.

From there, you have two choices:

One-way tickets:
- for a one-way trip inside Paris (possibly with multiple changes, as long as you stay inside the metro and in zones 1 and 2 for the RER), you can use a ticket "T", that costs 1,70€ ( http://www.ratp.fr/en/ratp/r_61656/t-ticket/ )
- but the tournament is outside Paris, so you would need an "Origin-Destination" ticket from Paris to Nanterre-Préfecture, that costs 2,60€ ( http://www.ratp.fr/tarifs/en/ratp/resultat?depart=Ch%C3%A2telet+Les+Halles&arrivee=Nanterre-Pr%C3%A9fecture&depart_id=712&arrivee_id=732 )
- train tickets from the Charles de Gaulle airport are very expensive: they cost 9,50€ ( http://www.ratp.fr/tarifs/en/ratp/resultat?depart=A%C3%A9roports+CDG+par+RER+B&arrivee=Ch%C3%A2telet+Les+Halles&depart_id=355&arrivee_id=712 )
- for all those tickets, you get a discount if you buy 10 of them at once!

Daily tickets:
- if you are under 26 years old, you should definitely buy a "Ticket Jeunes" for zones 1-3 for 3,65€. It's a ticket valid for the whole day, and you can take unlimited trips in the given zones... So you could use it to go to Nanterre and back, then take the subway multiple times in the evening to go party :) But it only works on weekends and public holidays. Since November 1 is a public holiday in France, you could use these on Nov 1, 2, and 3. You would need to buy standard tickets (or Mobilis, see below) for the other days. ( http://www.ratp.fr/fr/ratp/c_21580/ticket-jeunes-week-end/ )
- if you are 26 years old or older, you cannot use the "Ticket Jeunes". But there is a daily ticket called "Mobilis". It costs 8,80 € for zones 1-3 though... ( http://www.ratp.fr/fr/ratp/c_21148/mobilis/ )

Conclusion:
If you are under 26 years old, use "Ticket T" on Thursday and Monday to move around inside Paris (you will stay inside zones 1 and 2, since Thursday's tournament is inside Paris, IIRC). Use "Ticket Jeune" (zones 1-3) for Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.
If you are 26 years old or older, use "Ticket T" on Thursday and Monday. For Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, if you know you will move around a lot, buy a Ticket Mobilis (zones 1-3). If you don't want to move around apart from the tournament, just buy one-way tickets for 3,65€.

You could also buy a "Paris Visite" pass ( http://www.ratp.fr/en/ratp/r_61654/parisvisite/ ) if you don't want to deal with all this, but it's expensive... It might be worth it if you come from the Airport, though, since one-way airport tickets cost 9,50€, and you can't use Mobilis tickets and Ticket Jeunes for the airport!

Now I'm late for my tournament, lol... See you at the BoM!

SirTylerGalt, thank you so much for your explanations! Since sightseeing has been postponed to GP Paris in February, we will get around mostly using the ticket "T" a lot! :-)

See you all at Paris, this is gonna be awesome!
