View Full Version : Legacy Achievements

(nameless one)
11-15-2013, 04:19 PM
I was reading a tournament posting when I saw this:

We will be doing Vintage Achievements at this tournament! I will be bringing some extra prizes to hand out to people who earn points for meeting goals such as:

Givin’ him the business :: Win a game on your first turn
The Hard Way :: Cast a permanent that costs eight (8) or more
Old School :: Have all five original Moxen in play
Float like a Spirit Token, sting like a Welder! :: Attack for exactly one (1) damage
Is that all you’ve got?! :: Beat turn 1, resolved: Jace, Trinisphere, Oath or Tinker
Global Warming :: Control a Smokestack with three (3) or more soot counters
After you :: Deck your opponent with Ancestral Recall
Et tu, Bobby? :: Lose a game to a permanent you control
Cut Heard 'Round the World :: Cut your opponent's deck to a game-winning or game-losing topdeck

Let's do this!

I think its is awesome. I wish some local store Legacy tournaments would do this.

My personal goal is to make people stifle their own fetchlands with Divert and kill their own Geist of Saints Trafts/True Name Nemesis.

That's a good one.
Just another notch on the six-gun: kill a creature that you can't target or damage?

I'd like to see this one:

Legacy 2005: Kill six or more creatures the turn before you die.

Amazing ideas! I think Slosh has got very nice one, too:

A Man needs some amusement... until I Notion Thief a Time Spiral I'm not satisfied...

Also... needs moar "Mull to one, Bazaar, turn2 win". A buddy of mine did this on BoM.

I did see my friend Thief a Time Spiral at a local a couple months back.. It was amazing. The face of the UR High Tide player was epic

I'm not so sure about legacy, but this does sound hilarious in EDH.

And I am quite the trophy-whore on the PS3...

A few weeks ago, I purposely held a lethal attack to give my TES opponent one more turn. I really wanted to Notion Thief the Diminishing Return he wished for the turn before. Achievement unlocked.

I'd like to add these two legacy-achievements of mine.

Like a Boss!: Put more than 12.000 Goblin Tokens into play without using an "infinite-combo" and lose the game without conceding.

Flash-drazi: Put Emrakul the Aeons Torn into play during your opponents turn in response to the first spell played this turn.

Solution:
(1) Krenko, Mob Boss vs. Platinum Emperion feat. Lightning Greaves
(2) Tap Aether Vial (at 15 counters) and cut yourself through a Moat

Oh! The glory: Win a sanctioned match with Barren Glory.

I've seen this outdone in standard (3 attacks, all connected). Legacy shouldn't be too hard...

Shame-drazi: The first time I ever played Emrakul in this format, I hardcast him and lost that game. This is also a Spaghetti for everyone, since I attacked him three times.

Combo backfire: I once won a round at an SCG where I played only one card over two games: a basic mountain.

Absent-minded magician: I once had an opponent go to his draw phase and draw a card off my deck. Uh, judge?

David vs. Goliath: I once beat Storm in Game 3 on a mull to three while playing Lands. My three was a fetchland, a dual land and a basic land.

BOOM! HEADSHOT!: Win a game before your opponent's first turn.

Just keep digging: cast eight or more 1-mana cantrip effects before completing a combo kill.

Revenge of the Nerds: Lose a game to a deck registration error.

It's just a jump to the left: Cast three or more Emrakul, the Aeons Torn in a single game.

Brain fart: Put the wrong card back from a Brainstorm.

Mirror on Your Forehead: Make the opponent discard at least 3 copies of one card from a blind Cabal Therapy.
Watt Just Happened: Win by Misdirecting the opponent's Lightning Bolt to his face.
Sharp-Duressed Man: Whiff a Duress on an opponent twice in one match.
No Secrets Here: Fail to flip a Turn 1 Delver if Secrets for at least 6 turns in a row.
Congratulations! You Are Great Debugger!: Resolve Surgical Extraction or Extirpate on enemy Wirewood Symbiote and exile all 4 copies.
Ain't Nobody Got Time Fo' Dat!: Fail all five flips for Ral Zarek's ultimate.

Brain fart: Put the wrong card back from a Brainstorm.

I did this twice in a single turn to lose a match for a top 8 spot in a Vintage local for a Sapphire.

It was turn 4 of turns, my opponent has 0 cards in hand and nothing of note on the board. I play a Jace, 0 Brainstorm. Draw Time Walk and Tinker and Brainstorm. I have Blightsteel in my hand, so all I need to do is put him back with another card and Tinker then Time Walk and win. I completely fail to do that for some reason. Realizing this, I play Brainstorm, and then again, completely fail to put Blightsteel back.

No idea what the hell was wrong with me that day...

Another solution to (2) that I've done: Fetch for a Tropical Island, exile 2x Simian Spirit Guide to cast Violent Outburst, cascading into Hypergenesis, putting Progenitus and Emrakul into play in response to my opponent's Thoughtseize.

Not mine personally, but still a good one that I witnessed nonetheless:

Stop Mindscuptling Yourself: Win a game by ulting Jace TMS yourself.

Lucky #8 - I activated my Aether Vial at 8 to Vial in my Ashen Rider to exile my opponent's Energy Field, then attacked for the win. I'm playing Goblins, I did this at GP DC.

Gang-Bang - After my opponent cast Show and Tell, he put in a Griselbrand vs my Siege-Gang Commander. At his end step, I cycled gempalm Incinerator and killed the Grizzle with the trigger.

Karakas is Crazy: Bounce Thalia with Karakas and win on the same turn.
The First Rule of Fight Club...: If someone asks you if you're from The Source, tell them you don't know what they're talking about, sir.
Winception: Using Solidarity, win in response to your opponent winning in response to you winning.
Touhou is Harder: Win a match against Burn without taking a single point of damage.

Soul Read: Blind-hit the remaining three copies of a card from opponent's hand with Extirpate.

My friend did that against an opponent playing Life from the Loam. He declined to hit the three copies of Verdant Catacombs being targeted, nor did he go for Life from the Loam. He targeted the 1-of Brainstorm in the yard and was rewarded when his opponent showed 3 copies in grip.

My friend won a game with his opponent casting a large Blue Sun's Zenith because Plagiarize had been cast earlier in the turn.

Was this at SCG Seattle last month? If so, I was sitting next to them when that happened. She cast Plagiarize followed by Spiral then later in the turn cast the Zenith. Apparently earlier opponents (and she) didn't realize that she would draw the cards instead.

Watt Just Happened: Win by Misdirecting the opponent's Lightning Bolt to his face.

Should also include winning off your opponent's Chain Lightning.

They might be giants - survive a hit from an eldrazi and win
Dan Signorini one-upped that one on camera back in the day - not only he survived a hit from Emrakul and won, but he killed the spaghetti monster in combat.

(The SCG Open he won over two years ago - in the finals he blocked Emrakul with three Tombstalkers, stifling the annihilator trigger.)

I think he lost that game, but won the match.

Thomas Enevoldsen with D&T in quaterfinals in GP strasbourg won vs show and tell after being attacked by Emrakul (and Griselbrand two times also if i remember well) :)

I did it personnaly too with D&T:

Was playing vs Mono blue control with a transformative sideboard into show and tell / Emrakul. It was before the change on legendary rule.
In game 3, He has back to basics in play, i have an tapped karakas in play and two others in hand.
He plays show and tell, i put a revoker naming something irrelevant, I let him attack me sacrifice nearly everithing except a thalia and a land (sacrificing my untapped karakas).
I draw a flickerwisp. I play karakas and bounce emrakul.
Then he recast show and tell, i put Flickerwisp into play and bounce emrakul with my flickered karakas.
On my turn i draw my fourth Karakas.
On his turn he plays a third show and tell in a row, i put Karakas into play. that destroys both legenadry lands. and on my turn i play my fourth karakas to bounce emrakul and win 2 turns later :)

Don't silence me bro: Beat quadruple chant effects with storm combo after resolving doomsday and passing the turn after meditate is put on the stack due to said chant effects. Does that qualify as amazing? Opponent takes an extra turn too due to meditate.

I have a better Emrakul story. Almost two years ago, I was playing Hive Mind vs a dredge player. I forget how, but he lost 3 life earlier in the game. I hit him with Emrakul, and put him at 2. In his turn, he manages to get stinkweed imp and six zombie tokens into play. I attack with Emrakul, like a noob I forget the deathtouch on the imp. He sacs his six zombies, blocks Emrakul, and I trade my 15/15 legend for his 1/2 dredger. He deserves to win that game on account of my stupidity, and I only have Show and Tell (with 4 mana in play) and Thoughtseize in hand. He's comfortable, but only at 2. Next turn, I draw Hive Mind. I'll let you guys think about how I stole the game that turn.

EDIT: on second thought, your story is better.

"Don't try this at home.": Take mulligan to 1 and beat Spanish Inquisition with a non-blue deck.

Round 2 Christian with Spanish Inquisition
G1: I knew he was on Spanish Inquisition (for those of you who don’t know the deck: it’s a BG Turn-1-Glasscannon Combo Deck, similar to Rg Belcher, just half a turn faster). I pondered if I should concede G1 without showing him any card, since I would likely lose anyway. I decided to try it. He goes off Turn 2.

IN: 4 Chalice, 1 Chrome Mox, 3 Earwig Squad, 4 Cabal Therapy
OUT: 4 AEther Vial, 5 Spotremoval, 3 Ringleader

G2: I knew I had to take mulligan to Chalice of the Void OR to Turn 1 Cabal Therapy. SO there we go.
Draw 7: Turn 1 Lackey, no hatecards. Mulligan.
Draw 6: No lands, no Chalice. Bye-bye.
Draw 5: T1 Lackey again, but no hatecards. Mulligan
Draw 4: 3 Lands, 1 Matron. Nope.
Draw 3: Nope.
Draw 2: Nope.
Draw 1: Auntie’s Hovel.
Well, what can I say? I won this game. Like…honestly, I won this game with a fucking mulligan to 1. I would REALLY love to tell you that my overwhelming Jedi-Force or some insanely well played card won me this. But that was not the case. I drew Cabal Therapy, Warren Instigator, Chieftain, Lackey and some lands. That’s the whole story. Cabal Therapy. Flashbacked with Lackey. True story.

G3: my hand was like this:
Goblin Lackey,
2x Warren Instigator
1 Goblin Chieftain
1 Chalice of the Void
2 Lands.

The game went like this:
Christian: *plays Lotus Petal* *plays Dark Ritual* “Well, since I go first and you don’t have any counters I just pull off my combo here, ok?”
Me: “Well, you can do that as long as you ask me to respond after you cast your third spell.”
Christian: “Hum. So you got a Mindbreak Trap.” *casts Cabal Therapy naming MBT* *play Dark Ritual* *plays Cruel Bargain to draw 4 and go to 10* *plays Chrome Mox* *plays Mox Opal*. “Go.”
Well, I beat him on turn 3, which was an easy task as he had only 10 life left.
Needless to say I was a little confused after this Round.

2-0
