View Full Version : Same card, different/stronger colors?

Hey guys, I recently sold 3 Show and Tell online and the buyer didn't confirm the receipt yet. When I asked him, he told me that one of the Show and Tells had "stronger" colors than the other and this looked suspicious to him. He wants to contact a dealer about it soon (it's been >2 weeks) to make sure everything is fine.
Does anyone of you know or has anyone come across this? I thought it was pretty common that cards sometimes had slightly different strength of color.
Visions through Saga had some variations in the print runs that caused cards to have stronger pigments than others.
Dark Visions is notorious for this. I also recently saw a heavily pigmented M14 Doom Blade as compared to what they typically appear.
I think I had a pair of darker Show & Tells compared to the other two. Variations exist. It's kind cool personally.

My playset of S&T is exactly that, one is very slightly lighter, two are what I would consider normal, and my fourth is very dark, deep blue.
I have seen similar things from dealers regularly so never thought anything of it.
Same way I have had smudged text ink from card opened in packs.

People like this wanker really get me going. Nothing like a Dunning Kruger MKM/MOTL buyer to boil my blood. Hopefully at the end of his seemly exhaustive detective work he will realize how much of a dumbass he is. This is precisely why I scan everything before sending out.

One of the Show and Tells in my playset is dark blue as well. Nothing to worry about, just don't let him try to cheat you out of what you should be getting.

ease up there buddy. Someone that might have just made the move from standard into legacy would defiantly be skeptical of this. Especially if this is his first time to spend $300+ on a playset of cards.
Im sure it'll check out, just like koby said there were a lot of variations in colors back then. It was more noticeable in visions but there are still cards even throughout masques block that have the coloring inconsistencies.

One Google search buddy. Color variations still happen to this date, even with modern printings. 100% this is a guy trying to get out of paying some money.

Here is a photograph I just took of my Show and Tells. I know exactly what you are describing... Two of my Shows are much darker/deeper blue on the border than the other two. I don't have a scanner so I tried to take a steady picture that was close to the cards... Hopefully this shows that Show and Tells (and likely other cards from the same time) can have noticeably different coloration.

I've seen numerous cards with that sort of color variation up through at least Mercadian Masques.
One of these is not like the others:
