Okay, I know the name is terrible but this is a pseudo-maverick list that I have been playing recently. The idea is to be as immune as possible to the best common hosers in the format..namely rest in peace and blood moon and then be able to side them in against the metagame!
Birds of paradise help alleviate both problems and I will tell you why… the bird taps for any color mana and also does not depend on the graveyard to attack…but wait, birds of paradise cannot attack, and that is where you are wrong. With the help of quasali pridemage and stoneforge mystic the bird is able to accelerate out and swing with swords and jittes to her hearts content. The pridemages will ensure that you are the only person with a sword/pointy fork thing, and the rest kind of falls into place:
The list:
Creatures 20:
4 Mother of ruins
4 Birds of Paradise
3 Stoneforge Mystic
4 Quasali Pridemage
3 Thalia
1 Gaddock Teeg
1 Scavenging Ooze
1 Scryb Ranger
Sticks 3:
1 Jitte
1 Batterskull
1 Sword of x and y
Spells:
4 Lightning Bolt
3 Crop Rotation
4 Green Suns Zenith
4 Lightning Helix
Lands 21:
1 Dryad Arbor
1 Bojuka Bog
1 Horizon Canopy
1 Sergi Steppe
1 Maze of Ith
1 Karakas
3 Wooded Foothills
3 Windswept Heath
2 Savannah
1 Taiga
1 Plateau
1 Mountain
3 Forest
1 Plains
Sideboard:
3 Rest in Peace
3 Blood Moon
2 Ancient Grudge
4 Pyroblast
2 Fire spout
1 Eternal Witness
Card Choices:
Crop Rotation: Additional outs against graveyard strategies, solitary attackers, removal, protection from wastelands, access to basic lands and some card draw in a pinch.
Green Sun's Zenith: I want maximum access to either teeg or ooze when the matchup matters, other times I will be searching for pridemages to bolster my BoP fueled air force.
Scryb Ranger: More mother of ruins activations, more mana from a BoP, wasteland protection, delver blocker.
Lightning Bolt/Helix: Burn shit down, then burn to the face.
Thalia: Combo exists and I want a chance to slow them down with mom protected hate bears.
I am finishing building this in real life as my second deck, please let me know what you think and I will play some games!
Thanks!
