I want to get a legacy tournament together for players in Sacramento.(Also maybe get some bay area players to come up!!!!) A1 and Adventures have both tried and failed. I think if there is some discussion about what days to have the tournament and talk to the tournament organizers at the shop I think we can get a monthly tournament going. Preferably at A-1 since I've ran the idea with them already.

If interested please post a good day (not falling on the Channelfireball or Eudamonia days)

Thanks and I hope we can get a tournament going.

I second this motion. I'm within a reasonable distance, and would definitely go if you can get a tournament on their calendar. Always glad to hear about more Nor Cal Legacy, hope this actually happens.

Edit: Any Saturday/Sunday that is not a Channel/Eudo Legacy tournament. Though I don't go to PTQs at the moment, its probably a good idea to not schedule this on the same day as a PTQ.

Also interested. I've been looking for a place to play legacy up in sac, the closest place is in dublin at galaxy games on wed, but that's like 1.5 hours away. I haven't played there for a while but apparently it still does fire every week.

I'm definitely interested. One thing we should discuss is proxies. Personally, I have no problems with them if it makes more people play. VS games does a legacy the 2nd Saturday of every month. Eudemonia does a legacy the 2nd Sunday of every month. Channelfireball does a legacy the 3rd or 4th Saturday of every month. Maybe we should try to do one the 1st weekend of the month?

How would we feel about Sunday, January 5th? Shouldn't conflict with any tournaments I know of.

I'd vote for proxies, in hopes of getting a bigger turnout. If the tournament actually happens, we could discuss a no-proxy for the future.

I'd like to see the OP weigh in with thoughts.

The 5th sounds like a good day. That is the first Sunday in January. They do a lot of events so ill make sure its a good day, Sunday shouldn't be too busy. If a few people can agree I will go down to talk to A-1 comics. They will want at least 8 people to organize it themselves. Also if for some reason they wont organize it, any legacy players in Sacramento should try to meet up there to play and see how big the Legacy group is.
I will update any info I get when I go down. In the mean time tell your friends.

A-1 comics has 2 stores with a big gaming areas. I'm thinking the one on Douglas, but if it helps the one off Auburn Blv. can work too.

Feel free to message me personally or respond in the thread.

Don't be shy bay area. Help us get this going!!!!

edit: I don't mind proxies if it helps lure people, but that is open for discussion.

5th is good here as well. usually 10 proxies is what other stores I have played at have offered, but I am down for whatever everyone agrees on (have my deck completed so no real stake in the decision).

A-1's Auburn store seems more centralized. would be easier for people to reach from all areas imo

I can 100% commit to Jan 5th in Sacramento, and can likely get 1-3 other people up there by loaning cards/decks. If it ends up being in Auburn, it's a lot less likely for us.

Auburn blvd, not Aurburn the city. Out of A-1's two stores it's the one closest to central sac

A-1 said 10 AM would be the best time because of other events that day. Does this work for everyone?

So I talked to A-1, and on Sunday one of the employees can judge and organize the parings. Since ten o'clock is sounding good for a few people I think we can finalize the day, January 5th (Sunday) at 10 o'clock. So far I have mostly talked with the A-1 on Sunrise. If its easier for people I'll talk to the one off of Auburn Blv. since its 10 minutes closer but I imagine its ok with them.

Sacramento's first monthly Legacy Event Jan. 5th at 10:00 am Register by 9:50
Hosted By A-1 comics in Roseville 818 Sunrise Ave Roseville.
Entry Fee $20.00
X rounds of swiss depending on attendance followed by top 8 or 4 then Prizes

Please post any questions

I tried to spread the word while playing at the SCG Oakland but a lot of people haven't heard of the Source. So once again tell anybody that plays or wants to play Legacy about the tournament. Be sure to mention we are allowing proxies. Ten proxies should help a lot of new players build decks.

I'm down, especially since it's so close to my house. I think 10 to 15 proxies is reasonable.

If you want to spread the word more to the bay area folks there is a facebook group sfbay eternal magic that has a lot of members. Join that group and post announcements and it might help to pull more people from the bay.

I've been spreading the word at my LGS, among friends, and random folks at SCG OAK. Looks like we're on track to have a reasonable tourney. I'll be going to the Legacy eent at Versus SF this Sat, and spread the word even more.

Thank you guys for spreading the word. I started a facebook group so people not familiar with the source can check out. I also encourage any players wanting to go to join too. The group is called, Sacramento Legacy.

I have an important update. After talking to the manager he would prefer not to open so early. So the shop will open at 10:30 and we will start the tournament at 11:00. I hope this doesnt ruin anybodys schedule.

We had some questions regarding prize support. Legacy players generally want more legacy stuff so store credit is usually the best. Also what places will get prizes? 1-8? 1-4?

We should also make sure it is sanctioned and have them put it up formally so people can find it with wizards tourney locator.

Let's hash out the details early so we can have a smooth tournament :)

Yes the store would do store credit, and between both stores there is a nice selection of cards to choose from. As for prizes the players get to decide how to divide it. I prefer to have it be more top heavy, and depending on the turn out top eight should get paid, even if maybe the bottom only gets their money back. I will talk to A-1 about making it sanctioned. Although I'm not sure they will with proxies allowed.

If you have any suggestions about prizes or anything please post them. Getting the details right is important!!

Just a reminder that the tournament is going to be in less than 2 weeks. Also I have been too busy to go down to Sac. I was wondering if a Sac local wouldn't mind making some flyers and bringing them to the A-1s and adventures. Id really appreciate.

Thanks, Ettore

it was great meeting everyone at the event! I was pretty impressed at how many legacy staples they had in the case for prizes so the place is excellent to play at.

hopefully next month we will get double if not triple the people!

I've been playing legacy for years and always wished we could get some legacy tournaments going in the area! Happy to hear others are now interested.. Let's get another going in February. If I would have known I would have went on the 5th. I've got a few other friends with legacy decks that would be down to go every month too!

welcome! glad to hear you and your friends might be interested!

we will be holding them on the first sunday of every month so as to not conflict with other major legacy tournaments, so look for the posting regarding the first week of feb for the next one.

We also have a facebook group titled "Sacramento Legacy" if your interested in keeping up with the news in the area :)

Cool, added a request for that group on Facebook..

The only problem I have with the first Sunday of February is that it's Super Bowl Sunday. I bet that could definitely hurt attendance. Maybe we can do another date for Feb?

I don't really do Facebook. Sorry. When is the next Legacy meet up? I went to the store and asked but nobody could answer, which is sorry because its like turning away loyal legacy customers.

So basically when is the next Legacy tourney?
