Hey, I was just wondering: Why aren't people running this in combination? You get counterspells, and you can use dread return as a finisher for Griselbrand. Idea just came to me, don' know if it's a terrible idea.

Well, I suppose you're talking about a tempo-mindrange shell that includes that interaction.
If so, the Dread Return is a dead card most of the time (18-20 lands), you have to discard both it and Griselbrand, you have to have both Griselbrand, Young, Dread, a way to discard them, cast 2-3 spells... You become graveyard dependant...
I don't know, you may be lucky and draw Faithless loothing after having a Young in play and return Griselbrand to win, but it seems most of the time you'll get dead cards.
I know I has been tried and also thought it was an interesting idea, but seems funnier to play than competitive, right? :)
If you were thinking about a deck focusing on that combo I would rather play Painter, also is a weak combo (creature based) but wins the game instanly.

I was thinking more of going Gifts Ungiven --> Dread Return + grisel = Whoops, I win. The idea is more funny, but I theorycrafted this would be taken into the following shell:
Jace Control, Playing deathrite shaman and gifts ungiven. There was a 4C control deck someone posted on here that might be a good start.

I think Dread Return would be best fit in the Young Frankenstein build that Todd Anderson played awhile ago, probably as a one-of that as a tutorable Entomb target.
I think there is a viable UBR Grixis list out there. Izzet Charm, Faithless Looting, Lightning Bolt, and Young Pyromancer are all powerful cards that could meld in with the existing UB Reanimator lists. Plus you get access to decent SB options.
You can side into a decent tempo deck when called for (sidestepping all of the GY and/or combo hate your opponent brings in), and you have a strong combo finisher that goes over the top of midrange strategies that traditionally give tempo fits.
The difficulty lies in figuring out how to fit this all into 60/15 cards without being a disorganized/diffuse mess.
