I went to GP Washington last November and placed in the money. What is the typical waiting time for getting a cheque? Wondering if I should fire off an email or not...

Half a year is nothing unheared of. But this shouldn't stop you from bugging them if the money doesn't arrive within the next 4-8 weeks.
Congratz to your money finish!

I waited veeeeery long the last time, just don't panic - you'll receive it someday, and the joy will be greater than now :D

I called them earlier this week about the same thing. The told me to send an email to "courtney.maheras at wizards dot com" to check up on it.

Last time I think it was 3 or 4 months before I got my check. I've heard people waiting up to a year in some cases, which is kinda absurd
After placing at GP San Diego (March, 16), I received my check by around May 23 -- so about 8-9 weeks.
If it doesn't show up, contact WotC support.

I placed at GP Denver (Jan 4-5th or something) and didn't get my check until week of GP San Diego (March 16-17th). They are really slow - SCG is much better at sending the prize checks.

The GP Washington DC prize checks are still in process. The typical processing window is about 8 weeks, but the holiday closure has added another week or so onto the events in late November and December. If Hasbro alerts me to any issues with your paperwork, I will let you know.

On a related note, I see a lot of you people are talking about receiving actual checks. Is that so? Being from Europe I have never seen a real non-big-ass-promotional check with my own eyes. Why don't they just send the money to your account?

Atleast at the european GPs you get the money delivered straight to your bank account. No real checks. What a pitty though.

America is a lot more weary of direct bank transfers. Something about giving out your bank account numbers. (even thought it's printed on every check you send out)
