Hi all,

Following the disuccion on Pain Seer, I'm looking to see if I can get a deck going that includes this card.

Colours are B obviously for Pain Seer,U for counter spells and white dip for sphinx.

Manabase [21];
3 x underground sea
3 x tundra
3 x island
2 x plains
3 x swamp
3 x poluted delta
3 x flooded strand
1 x urborg, tomb of yawgmoth

Creatures [13]
3 x Pain seer
3 x Sejiri Merfolk
3 x Vampire Nighthawk
3 x Vault Skirge
1 x Sphinx of the Steel Wind

Spells [19];
3 x Force of will
3 x spell pierce
3 x counterspell
3 x brainstorm
3 x ponder
3 x pemmin's aura

Artifacts [2];
2 x Whip of Erebos
4 x paradise mantle

This is a very rough idea.It utilizes small creatures with lifelink to try and keep lifetotal up if pain seer hits ( or pump it up in advance ).

I'm thinking of putting in some zombify type spells ( death denied,call to the netherworld, etc ) that are low manacost ( as to not get burned too much from Pain seer when it flips ).Still trying to find the best one in this spot, death denied being the best contender atm.disturbing plot having a synergy with Pain Seer in a way, so it might be a contender as well.

As it stands, There's 2 open spots MD ( not bothering with sideboard atm ), any ideas? :)

Pain Seer with costs like 3UU = 5 damage and 5WUB = infinite damage sounds really bad.

If you're trying to combo to draw part of your deck for 1 card=life loss in mana cost, why not just cast Ad Nauseam for 3BB instead of Pain Seer + Pemmin's Aura + Paradise Mantle for 3UUB?

Cheaper 1-card combo sounds better than 3-card combo.
Especially when 3-card combo is on a fragile creature with "summoning sickness" and "dies to removal".

Vastros; originally had a deck with propaganda in mind, but it got scrapped as I was going over it several times.Didn't change the title though :S

Main reason of the deck isn't pain seer, it's just a card I wanted to include and get going.So the whole cost of it versus other cards is kinda irrelevant.

The biggest problem for pain seer is that dark confidant does it better without any work.
