Building off a discussion in the OmniTell thread, I want to see if Griselbrand can fit into the Show and Tell/Dream Halls shell that has been doing decently well. The obvious advantage of Griselbrand is that Show + Griselbrand is only 2 cards, compared to Show + Omni + [action spell], and Dream Halls + Griselbrand should end the game on the spot reliably. Black gives you discard, which is excellent with Show and Tell in general and actually turns it from a near-dead card to a viable plan in some matchups, as well as Slaughter Pact/Massacre and other good SB cards.
The problem I'm having is that it's hard to reach a critical density of black cards for Halls + 'Brand without disrupting the deck's overall strategy. These cards are non-negotiable IMO:
4 Show and Tell
3-4 Dream Halls
4 Griselbrand
4 Force of Will
4 Thoughtseize
4 Brainstorm
4 Ponder
We still need more black cards, another Show/Halls target, and more filtering, and I'd like Lotus Petal as well. Lim-Dul's Vault is both blue and black and sets up a combo very nicely; if we want Vault then Gitaxian Probe becomes important, and we probably can't support Intuition or Wishes.
- Progenitus is probably not good enough in a world where everyone is preparing to fight TNN with Terminus, Supreme Verdict, Liliana, etc.
- Dark Ritual is a black card that helps power out Dream Halls, but I doubt there's room for both Ritual and Petal and Petal is much more important.
- If we want to play Omniscience, we can take a page out of the original Dream Halls deck's book and play Conflux, which is essentially an Enter the Infinite that we can cast using black cards with Dream Halls. For reference, here's a list from the OP of the ancient Dream Halls thread from ages ago:
