First time posting, I saw Stage's 50 land Valakut deck and wanted to post my own variant on a 50 land joke deck. I think this deck cost me all of a dollar to put together.
//Land
25 Island
25 Mountain
4 Reliquary Tower
//Spells
2 Land's Edge
4 Treasure Hunt
This deck doesn't really have a sideboard, but sometimes I will swap out the Land's Edge's for 1 Elixir of Immortality and 1 Zombie Infestation, and replace the Mountains with Swamps.
It backfires tremendously sometimes, but it's a fun novelty win to pull off.

I think this is the real key to whether it is worth playing. How often does it backfire?
All you need to keep a hand is a Treasure Hunt (pretty much everything else is land anyway). The chances of seeing at least 1 in your opening 7 are only about 40% (1 - 56C7/60C7). But you can keep mulliganing into it. You can mull down to 2 on the play or 1 on the draw and still cast Treasure Hunt on the critical turn (3).
The chance of mulling into oblivion without ever seeing it is only 56C7/60C7 * 56C6/60C6 * 56C5/60C5 * 56C4/60C4 * 56C3/60C3 * 56C2/60C2 * 56/60 = 13.5%.
For a deck that costs about a dollar, that's not a bad fizzle rate!
Of course you don't want to have to mull to 1 because then you're stuck waiting on an Island. But:
Mull to Chance of finding at least 1 Treasure Hunt
-------- ----------------------------------------------------
6 61%
5 73%
4 79%
3 83%
2 86%
1 87%
You hit diminishing returns after a while. Mulling to 3 works more than 4 out of 5 games, probably good enough for a budget deck.
Of course that's just the chance of finding Treasure Hunt. You still fizzle if you don't have a blue source (or rare deck configurations where you keep not hitting enough lands or not the right lands). There's no real reason to have so many Mountains, since you'll always be resolving Treasure Hunt before you need to cast Land's Edge. You can probably reduce your fizzle rate by switching to something like 36 Island + 14 Mountain. That's just a ballpark, haven't crunched the numbers to confirm.

LOL! I totally have to try this!
My friends tell me all my decks are annoying or stupid, cant wait for their reaction to this.
Ill probably have to buy Land's Edge somewhere though, its old and hard to find.
Thanks!

Seismic Assault feels strictly superior here.

Time Walk for every opponent seems strictly worse.
You have to play at least 1 basic Island on turn 1 or turn 2 in order to cast Treasure Hunt. Assault means you need to drop THREE mountains before you can combo off. Land's Edge only needs 2.
With LE, earliest you can go off is turn 4 (Land drops=Island, Reliquary Tower, Mountain, Mountain). With Assault you need at least 1 more turn.

Oh, I see. I wasn't personally considering the whole running solely basic lands since Sulfur Falls is so cheap, but you have a fair point on that one then. $1 for a deck vs $100 because of the lands is a huge difference. Noted!

Yeah. I mean, Sulfur Falls is one of the cheaper ones, but even just adding 4 Sulfur Falls increases the total deck price by a factor of 20. I don't see the point of playing this deck for more than a dollar. Also, you'd need a very high density of U/R duals in the deck because the land drop it has to replace is Island, which comes before casting Treasure Hunt. So the dual has to be naturally drawn. In fact, every Island in the deck would be useless since you'd never want to play basic island. You'd want to go Dual, Mountain -> Treasure Hunt -> Tower, Mountain. So you'd need duals to fully replace the islands. That gets pricey.
Unless... you run double lands or filter lands. Hmmm:
4 Treasure Hunt
3 Seismic Assault
30 Island
4 Saprazzan Skerry
4 Reliquary Tower
4 Cascade Bluffs
4 Sandstone Needle
3 Dwarven Ruins
This variation should have a higher goldfish rate (higher chance of Island+Treasure Hunt in opener; higher chance of Assault off 1st Treasure Hunt), can support Seismic Assault and can actually goldfish in fewer turns thanks to Bluffs turning blue mana red!
Sadly this costs even more money. It's better as a $1 deck.

Yea shivan reef is the painland. Halimar depths, the ur scry land (temple of epiphany), and cycle lands seem ok here and are cheap. You can also use colorless urza cycle lands. Hell, why not gemstone caverns? T2 kill.
You could have tolaria west to find boseiju if you plan on resolving hunt and lightning storm through some counters.
SB plan of 4 countryside crusher, cavern of souls, and dark depths combo pieces for another 'fuk it' factor. Could have chalice in sb since using twest and powered out by gemstone.
So want to take this to fnm vs a friend's nourishing lich and another's cheerios deck.
