If I have a lich's mirror in play under my control and I cast a grapeshot with a storm count of 39 and have them all target myself what happens (assuming I have 20 life)?

Would the the mirror save me from all the grapes or just the first lethal 20?

The first 20 Grapeshot copies will resolve. Then, the effect of Lich's Mirror will replace you losing the game. The remaining Grapeshot copies plus the original Grapeshot will then resolve.

Each copy of Grapeshot will resolve separately from one another. States are checked between each, and priority is passed between each.

The key thing here is that Lich's Mirror does nothing to interact with the stack. (And that each item on the stack only resolves one at a time.)

i can't be the only one wondering why you'd go to all the trouble of making 40 copies of Grapeshot (and first getting a Lich's Mirror into play) only to point them all at yourself and not your opponent…

Maybe he lost a Psychic Battle?

I am trying to come up with a cheap way of losing the game to use liche's mirror as a psuedo time twister.

Only problem with grapeshot is, as whienot pointed out, it would eventually kill me as long as storm count is greater than 38.

Edit: oh duh, I just point 20 of them at me and the rest of them at my opponent.

Word of advice, sippingcider: when you have a chance to beat your opponent, just beat him. Don't durdle around trying to do cool things. Otherwise, you might end up in a game that ends like this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mYuF3T7s7XY

If it's something casualish like EDH, the goal isn't always an easy win.

Also, this discussion is fine, but try to keep this board mainly to rules-related posts.

You could use Spoils of the Vault instead of Grapeshot.
