Hi there, as a Modern Twin player, I was trying to use in Legacy, I think there´s not any post about this deck, so I will try to "show" my decklist and with your help we can build a competitive decklist (I wish xD)

So.. for the people the dont know how works the deck, I will do a easy and fast explanation.

In modern, the Splinter Twin deck, is a deck that it wins with the combo of:

Pestermite / Deceiver Exarch + Splinter Twin, With the combination of this cards we can do infinite tokens and attack with a million of these tokens^^

So here is my actual decklist (I started to work when I saw the TNN)

Creatures: (15)

3 True-Name Nemesis
2 Deceiver Exarch
4 Pestermite
4 Snapcaster Mage
2 Vendilion Clique

Instants (14)

4 Brainstorm
4 Ligthing Bolt
1 Dismember
1 Misdirection
3 Force Of Will
1 Spell Pierce/ Daze

Sorcery (8)
4 Ponder
4 Gitaxian Probe

Enchantment (4)
4 Splinter Twin

Lands (19)

3 Volcanic Island
4 Scalding Tarn
4 Misty Rainforest
2 Arid Mesa
4 Island
2 Mountain

Sideboard (15)

1 Force Of Will
3 Blood Moon
1 True-Name Nemesis
3 Price Of Progress
2 Red Elemental Blast
2 Pyroblast
3 Surgical Extraction

So basically, the deck tries to win with the combo, but we can win easy via tempo, tapping the other mana, and with the vendilion, pestermite, snap /bolt and true-name

Other cards in maindeck that there are so good IMO are, Gitaxian Probe (Its nice when u have the twin in hand and a combo piece in battlefield, the information its very important in this deck)
The main deck Dismember and Misdirection, with a lot of tarmogoyf in the format and a lot of Delver Of Secrets this card is absolutly fantastic, If we have this turn 1 we will use to kill the delver (Its better loose 4 life that 6/9 xD) and the Misdirecction Its fantastic with the quantity of Abrupt Decay in the format, we can safe our creatures with it, and we have a lot of cards to remove so its nice.

The Vendilion Clique are so good vs show and tell.deck and vs control.deck, and we can kill fast with Tnn and Vendilion beatdown!

In the Manabase I was thinking to add some wasteland, but there´re not necesary, if we need some lock we can board the Blood Moons in the Sideboard

The sideboard its very lineal, vs a matchups that they have abrupt decay we can board the 4th True Name, the blood moons to lock his mana, or price of progress (I think that there is not synergi with the Pop and the Bmoon, but we can board the pop vs bug tempo for example to win via tempo like their, or we can try to lock their mana via blood moon) and we board out the splinter twin probaly and other fair cards

So there´s my dream deck  , any issues and all the thinks that it can help me are welcome^^

Your public enemy number 1 is golgari charm: against this deck it's a one sided wrath of god except for Deceiver Exarch which, however, is only useful with splinter twin, but Golgari charm can nuke enchantment too.

Since the charm already sees much play I would include at least 3 copies of spell snare in the 75, possibly even the full set since it also has other applications: goyf, mystic, infernal tutor, tourach, thalia, snapcaster just to name a few...

Aside from the problem that golgari charm and zealous persecution are played a lot the curve is just too high for legacy and there are much better ways to disrupt the mana/ gain tempo advantage than pestermite.

It you want to make twin work as a tier 2 deck with a certain surprise factor I think you need acceleration aka deathrite which would mean adding green or black and not being able to play blood moon/pop. Once when legacy was slower (mental misstep) a deck called Natural order RUG or NO rug existed and was even tier1. It finished with a 4 mana sorcery and also needed a creature in play. I would use that as a template.

Stifle is also a card you might consider...best mana disruption that also handles legacys most played instant wrath of god (terminus) which is played by the best deck in the format as a 4 of.

There is a deck that plays stifle and deathrite already in 4 color delver version (burg delver) and they are abusing wasteland and daze for sick tempo plays with a very low curve. Unfortunately twin needs to ramp so wasteland/daze is not a good idea...so you see already that the best tempo/mana disruption spells do not have the best synergy with twin.

One more thing: the burn out as an alternative game plan has a different power level in legacy compared to modern. Shock lands are one thing but there is also stone forge (batter skull/jitte), counterbalance and fast combo decks. Since you are not that fast you will need to disrupt a lot....and if you disrupt a lot you might ask yourself "why not just play delver instead of twin"... :)

Anyway, look forward to seeing your brew develop. My advise: if you want to fully enjoy legacy also try some of the establish end decks then you'll get a better feeling of how the format works.

P.s. get rid of true name...your slow creatures should kill instantly... You don't have equipment and enough expensive stuff...you need less clunk but not tnn for your game plan

I'd say take some notes from Imperial Painter and use a more Stompy manabase and Imperial Recruiter. Forget about Splinter Twin and use Kiki-Jiki Mirror Breaker instead. Will be a significantly higher investment, but it'll be well worth it because even if this doesn't pan out, you have Forces AND Recruiters to fall back on.

UR Imperial Twin (60/15)
3 Kiki-Jiki Mirror Breaker
4 Pestermite
4 Imperial Recruiter
3 Phantasmal Image
4 Delver of Secrets/Goblin Guide (backup tempo plan possibly)
4 Brainstorm
4 Force of Will
4 Daze
4 Lightning Bolt
4 Vapor Snag
2 Chrome Mox
4 Ancient Tomb
4 Volcanic Island
4 Scalding Tarn
1 Misty Rainforest
2 Arid Mesa
2 Island
3 Mountain

You can look into Aether Vial as a possible inclusion too, since TNN, clique, and the combo pieces are all CMC3 creatures.

The deck feels like it will get its wins mostly through beating down with fliers and Fow/Daze/Stifle backing you up, with an occasional "SurpriseSplinterTwin" here or there.

I will just focus on the combo and leave the TNN apart, as somebody stated above.
Instead, I will try to run the Counterbalance / Sensei's Divining Top lock.

Something like

-3 TNN
-1 Ponder
-1 Pestermite
-1 Snapcaster
-1 Dismember
-1 Misdirection
-1 Twin
-1 G. Probe
+1 pierce
+2 Jace
+3 CB
+4 SdT

Since you have more control over the opponent, removing one piece of each part of the combo wouldn't hurt so much plus you will gain a sweet lock. Jace as everybody knows, is simply awesome. I Just think the 2nd Pierce is needed. Its true with this changes maybe you don't have so many chances to combo out like with the original list (because of the removed pieces), but you will find them better (SdT) and you will defend yourself better against opp. counters (CB), plus, your second win condition (jace) doesnt recall on the tempo and still is able to find you the combo.
Hope this helps.

It dos not work like that.
Top is very tempo negative and control decks make up for that by having over powerful "swingy" spells like terminus.

If you want to be control combo you need to be a lot more control and finish with 1 card combos like jace and entreat the angels. Some miracle decks also add some slots for the thopter combo.

You have to follow the most important advise I gave you: LESS CLUNK! you did the opposite and added a lot more clunk (top balance and jace).

The idea of playing with recruiters is an interesting one. Painter servant comes to mind as it also has good acceleration. However their best control elements do have an anti synergy with heavy blue (moon effects) and your combo (ensnaring bridge). Also painter/red blast is a big reason why this deck works.

I think you original idea of beat down/tempo with combofinish has the best chance....hence looking at no rug.

Hi there, I was busy this week so I cant write here, but im here^^

The decklist is tempo with a combo finisher if we need it vs agresive matchups

The Bolt, snap, Bolt is not to close the game (Obv u can do it) its to kill all the creatures that u dont want in the battlefield, or stoneforges, and other dangerous creatures

The true-name without equipment its probably a bad idea, and I´m thinking how to solve this, we can play sword of feast and famine, or jitte in maindeck as 1-off, but without stoneforges seems a little worse, and add the 3rd color... meh

The imperial decklist its nice but I dont like it, I prefer more tempo decklist, Im thinking to add delver but in sideboard matchups when we need blood moon the delvver is a little worse, and we are not running a lot of stuff to flip it (Comparing with other decks)

And I think the most tempo creature is tarmogoyf, but here, as I said, add the 3rd color is bad, we are more vulnerable to the wastelands and we cant run blood moon in the sideboard (I think blood moon is necesary in the current metagame)

And about the jace, top , cb its a completely diferent deck, if u want to play that cards u can play miracles that is a little better

Regards!
