While premier stores are able to run them, there's a major point that affects all of us:

Starting in Baltimore (I think), they'll be run EVERY Sunday starting 1 hour (10am) after Legacy starts (9am) and they will always be Modern.

While I'm glad they're not dropping Legacy, I think it's obvious we're going to lose players to the Premier IQ since they'll be forced to choose one or the other. They said coverage will still be on Legacy, so that's a plus at least.

The problem is a different one, though.

They're going to push the prices of Modern staples to even more ridiculous highs.

Really curious to see how much this hits legacy attendance. I would expect it to decrease somewhat, players who don't care for legacy and borrow decks will likely go for modern?

My main complaint is the hour less of sleep on Sundays. Also much less legacy coverage in general, as top 8 will finish around r3, so no camera coverage until around r5 I'd expect?

Dammit, I was fine with this until Nocley pointed out that we'd get one hour less sleep.

Also, people in finals of standard open would get what, 3 byes now for legacy?

Someone pointed out that the Portland Open this month starts at 9 am, so the earlier start isn't directly attributable to Modern.

Looks like that's actually effective starting this weekend (9am Legacy Opens)...if they're trying to eliminate late nights, why not start Standard an hour earlier too?

Also...how many players are aware of this change? I don't remember an annoucement anywhere (For the opens between now and Baltimore, as the change of the Modern events is the annoucement of the time change).

Edit: Looks as this is just an issue from backfilling the Legacy Open information, as previous events are showing up as 9am starts.

Opens have been growing in attendance, and that often means an extra round, so I'm not surprised to see the start time pushed earlier. I share your sentiment on the sleep loss. That's the biggest deal to me, too. As a natural night owl, I would love nothing more than a noon start time and playing deep into the night; however, I recognize that even convention centers have closing times, and I'm sure Star City is taking whatever the smoothest path is.

I'm fine with an earlier start time. I'm already waking up at 8. What's an extra hour? I like getting out at a reasonable time because driving back until super late sucks

That's also my concern, although I highly appreciate SCG picking up Modern. I'd like a Modern Stream, though, but instead of Standard, not Legacy. ^^

I think it would have been better for SCG if the Modern event started at or around
the same time as R3 of the Legacy for all those who go 0-2 drop.

Agree with Krieg. I'd like to 0-2 drop with Blood Moon and have something else to do. I think having a modern option Sunday is a great idea. A good part of the children who play standard don't have legacy cards, they borrow a deck or play burn and I have to read them the oracle text for Trinisphere. I'd rather play vs. dedicated legacy players than children, even if the whole legacy attendance is -50-75 players.
