Hello everyone,

I'm new to this forum but have lurked for a while. I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this -mods, if it isn't, please move it to the appropriate place.

I recently picked up a Mox Sapphire. When it arrived and I inspected it, I noticed that it has been inked on the borders on the back. It is extremely minor, but the seller didn't mention it (I have since contacted him and he was very apologetic and said he had no idea it was inked).

I'm pretty disappointed about the whole thing, really. But I got what I thought was a decent deal on it (when I didn't know it had been inked).

Anyway, like I said, it's extremely minor -but I wonder if some people with more experience than me might be able to take a look at the photos and give me a ballpark valuation? If it's worth less than I paid I think I should ask for a refund.

The images are pretty bad quality, I only have a cellphone and the light in my apartment is terrible. You can see the general extent of it though -the ink is mainly visible on the sides of the card, and has bled through to the front on one tiny part on the right side.

Here is the album: http://imgur.com/a/CuOyC

Any ideas what it could be worth?

That is far from minor and anyone looking at the card for 20 seconds should notice it. Minor would be a single small spot not executed that badly. The card probably loses in between 10-20% due to that.

Yeah I thought it was a bit fishy that he said he didn't notice it, because I saw it straight away.

Maybe minor was the wrong word -it's not minor, but it's not like someone inked it to look like a beta card, and it's not really noticeable in a sleeve (from the front) except for that spot on the right side.

That is not minor and 10-20 % is too little discount. I would say maybe deduct 35-40% of its value considering how hard it is to sell that card to someone in the future.

That card is Moderately Played or Played depending on your grade scale of choice. It's not yet Heavily Played. MP/P should net a 30% loss from NM/M.

Thanks for the replies. So worst case scenario, do you think it's worth 50% of a NM one?

I compared it to one in similar condition. This is where my 10-20% came from.
If you compare it to a NM copy the 35-40% actually make sense and seem quite spot on.

50%+ you're going into Heavily Played or even marked card unplayable stuff. If you're just going for a return and refund then it doesn't really matter beyond 20%. If you're looking for a credit on the purchase, you should just get it appraised.

Depends what kind of deal you got on this, and what it was valued at. Looks MP, I'd be at ease asking for something like 10-15% back.
