PS: Just back from Prague Eternal, I'll start taking care of comments for both this and last week's article throughout the day!

Ok, this article was a LOT of fun to read! It's fun to see what kind of direction you'll be heading with this (:
Are you planning on taking the decklist to competitions and giving reports?

I think that, while not the most interesting list, Grixis Thopter Sword has the best potential at being a competitive deck. Thopter combo with tutors and backup plan seems good. Really nice that it gets Brainstorms and Force of Will too.
Very interested in seeing whatever deck you progress with.

Voted for reanimator. Because when playing with welder, why play fair?

Hey Carsten, I really enjoyed your article. Have you tried testing Mycosynth Lattice? I'm not sure it's worth the extra mana, but it has some really interesting advantages over Liquimetal Coating. Off the top of my head; It allows you to use Dack's stealing ability more then once a turn thanks to the new legend rule, helps make symmetrical artifact hate less of a blow out, would let you run Karn, Silver Golem and blow up all their mana workshops style, and almost guarantees Tezz will be a 1 turn clock. It also can't be stifled/needled/revokered/rodded/decayed.

@Megadeus: Buying more Welders just can't be wrong *g*
@JPoJohnson: Thanks :) If any of the decks actually survives the tuning process (not everything that looks awesome actually ends up being awesome), I'll definitely bring it to one of our local events at some point and let everybody know how it performed.
@mini1337s: The UWR Thopter list is what jumps out at me as the most likely to be competitive, actually, but also the blandest one. SFM is quite the card and a lot of what the deck does has already been proven to be competitive.
@AndyTron: Happy you liked it :) Haven't tested anything yet but I consciously ignored Lattice. Having the utility effect on a 2 mana artifact that is easy to cast or Tranmute for just trumps the marginal benefits you sometimes get from making everything an artifact by so much on the theoretical level.
