Hey guys,

been tinkering around on a Dack Fayden deck for a couple of weeks but could use some help streamlining it. Right now it feels a bit threat-light, and I don't want it to be overly GY focused. I also want to trim it down 3 cards.

The 2 True Name-Nemesis are there as a sort of alt win-con - they were originally going to be 4 Delver of Secrets but there's not enough instants/sorceries. The Mox Diamonds are there for mana ramp/to help power out Wurmcoil Engine if Goblin Welder gets taken out, or if there's GY hate on the board. The Crucible of Worlds is there to help mitigate the Mox Diamonds and to allow Wasteland-lock or just as a Welder target for an Engine.

Also, I'm debating removing 3-4 fetchlands for Cavern of Souls to help get Welder and Engine into play, but the deck is so creature-light that I'm not sure they're worth it. Dack Fayden can help get rid of cards for Brainstorm, but I don't think that 3-4 fetchlands is enough. Mishra's Factory over Cavern is another option.

Thoughts?

Carsten Kotter is working on the same topic in his latest article (http://www.mtgthesource.com/forums/showthread.php?28274-Eternal-Europe-You-Choose-The-Brew-II&p=821510&viewfull=1#post821510). Lot of ideas there!

I think you can go down to three Wastelands, as all you need is one to execute the Crucible of Worlds lock. That frees up a land spot. Maybe you'd want to run an Academy Ruins in case Goblin Welder eats it(?). Not sure if it's necessary, but it might be good.

I also think four Wurmcoil Engines is too many. I'd run three so you can still get it with Intuition. It'll be stuck in your hand a lot if you don't have Welder *AND* Dack Fayden active, and you don't run ramp like Grim Monolith to reliably hard-cast it. If you want to run four, I'd play a couple Ancient Tombs or something. Plus, you're already running Batterskull, which I'm not sure you need with three Wurmcoils.

You're running a lot of equipment without a lot of creatures. Attaching it to True-Name Nemesis is, of course, insane, but there are only two. And you don't wanna kamikaze your Welders. If Wurmcoil gets in once, it's hard for most decks to come back from that, rendering equipment on it superfluous.

Since you're running Lightning Bolt, what about making your deck Delver friendly so you can threaten the opponent's life total? That would make your equipment package stronger. Or since you're running Mox Diamonds, maybe splashing black for Baleful Strix is the move instead, as that's ridiculous with Welder and can wear equipment. Oh, and you can play it T1. And maybe this is too cute, but what about playing a singleton Lightning Greaves to give Welder or Wurmcoil haste or a Liquimetal Coating so you can steal the opponent's stuff? I'd also find room for one Sensei's Divining Top, as you can sacrifice Top in response to the draw trigger. Yeahhhh, Delver's out, haha - Strix it is.

So what about this?

2 Ancient Tomb
3 Seat of the Synod
2 Great Furnace
1 Vault of Whispers
1 Island
3 Volcanic Island
1 Underground Sea
4 Misty Rainforest
1 Scalding Tarn
1 Flooded Strand
1 Polluted Delta
3 Wasteland

4 Goblin Welder
4 Baleful Strix
2 True-Name Nemesis
3 Wurmcoil Engine

4 Dack Fayden

3 Mox Diamond
1 Mox Opal
1 Sensei's Divining Top
1 Liquimetal Coating
1 Umezawa’s Jitte
1 Sword of Fire and Ice
1 Crucible of Worlds

4 Brainstorm
2 Ponder
2 Intuition
4 Force of Will

Might be too much colorless mana, but maybe it's OK. Plus, you have fixing with Mox. I think you can run one Mox Opal in place of a Diamond because you're only running 23 lands, and you can more easily make three mana on T1 if you play an artifact land, Diamond and Opal. Maybe it's not as good - I dunno. Just thinking out loud.

Also, with Strix, you may not need Lightning Bolt at all, so I just wanted to see what that would look like. Could be wrong.

This list REALLY needs Welder to survive - that's my main worry. Academy Ruins may be necessary.

I have NO idea if this deck is good, haha. On paper, it looks powerful. Just throwing ideas out. Feel free to hack at it.
