[Hatedeck] Burnbuster

I'm pretty annoyed by the pressence of Burn in the MTGO meta. For that reason, I want to pull a "fun police" on them and ruin their day.

I've scouted to meta a bit and can now predict fairly well which players have a high chance of playing Burn, thus me being able to snipe them.

I want to stay in monowhite, if possible. I'm considering a GW Bogles deck as well, but I don't know how well that would work with against PoP.

Here's a first draft:

No Wastelands since they're useless anyway. Revoker would also be pretty subpar. Not sure about how good Fiendslayer would be.

Celestial Purge is extra removal against red critters and especially Sulfuric Vortex. Aegis also helps to slow them down and is easier to cast than True Believer.

Another consideration is running a MD E-Tutor board with Pariah (despite SFM, Pariah's Shield is way too expensive), Worship, O-Ring (because fuck Vortex, seriously) and maybe other targets like Warmth, Absolute Law or CoP:Red. Pariah on a pro-red creature is pretty much game over (unless they play Skullcrack) and Worship + pro red IS game over for them. I haven't seen any Burn decks running Anarchy or Sulfur Elemental.

Yes play 4 warmth maindeck and it will be over, this is one of the best hate.

Just play Soul Sisters. Or Life.dec... It's impossible to lose to burn after Martyr of Sands did it's job.

Warmth alone won't help against Goblin Guide and Eidolons.

@JanoschEausH: Soul Sisters would probably work, too. But that's another ~25-26 tix of investment. I can see getting Martyr online as a problem.

How would a Legacy-Life.dec look like?

On a different note:

Catched my first burn player today. Lost the first match because MTGO sucks and it selected my D&T deck instead of Burnbuster (hopefully, I get reimbursement). And he got the nuts/me subpar draws.

However, in the rematch, I won 2-1 (lost G2 due despite Kor Firewalker due to some savage topdeck into double Fireblast for exactly lethal the turn before I got Jitte online), including a ragequit G3. I think I might be on the right road. :tongue:

A few observations I made so far:

- I don't want SoFaI due to the high number of pro red creatures. Should probably be another Jitte because it's cheaper (or SoLaS).
- Brimaz and Fiendslayer might be too slow.
- the effectiveness of Port is questionable if it's only good with Thalia - I would rather spend my mana to set up the board
- I'm probably giving the E-Tutor + Pariah combo MD a spin.

Edit: Since essentially nobody runs Skullcrack, I've switched to the Pariah combo. 2x T3 kills and fanmail. Man, that guy got salty - gotta love it. Way better than before. Gonna run a full playset of Pariahs now since it's way too good to pass. New list:

Maybe the board should be a transformational one since the MD is pretty much all you want against Burn, just in case you run into a non-Burn deck.

I played GW Haterator back in 2006/7/? Extended. Deck was fun.

If you'lll go the GW route, you may add Troll Ascetic and Armadillo Cloak. Plus Worship, of course.
I'm not sure what's the reasoning behind some of your choices, like Karakas or Vial. I'm not sure about Thalia, although she seems like a good choice if you want to slow them down.
Idk. I'm not sure if slowing down is necessary.

Speaking of GW, what dou you think about this:

8-12 mana elves (preferably 10)
4 Troll Ascetic (or rather a one-mana hexproofer?)
8-12 pro:red dudes (preferably 10)
3 Armadillo Cloak
3 Worship
4 Pariah
4 StP
2 Jitte

20 lands

A turn2 Troll followed by turn3 Worship seems good. So does Soltari Priest (but is it good?) with Armadillo Cloak. Or BFT with Pariah. Or Silver Knight with Jitte.
Yep, the SFM and her package is missing. That may be a mistake. After all, I was thinking more about the old deck. You may switch w/e you want and introduce SFM+tools.

I think the Pariah + Pro Red combo is enough to beat them and it's exactly what I've been looking for. With the given numbers, I have roughly a chance of ~57% to pull a T3 hardlock. I could go higher with more E-Tutors, but those are expensive and that doesn't seem like it's worth it.

Worship is also good, but seems kinda slow, at least without mana dorks which I don't run.

Yep, Worship is only really good in GW where you may pull turn1 BoP/Elf, turn2 Troll, turn3 Worship
