which one would you rather have if you run 8 fetches in the deck.
playing a UR delver/young pyro deck.

I would take Ponder. Without Fetches you look at 4 cards. With fetches you can pick any of the three you see.
Preordain looks at 3 and and fetches do not improve its card selection.

brainstorm > ponder > preordain .... for pretty much every situation.

For legacy this is mostly true. Shuffle effects are so strong with the brainstorm and ponder. However in formats where there is little shuffle effects like when preordain was in standard then preordain was better then ponder even when both where legal at the same time.
