Are you guys going to be streaming the whole event or just part of it? I may have the times wrong but it doesn't look like you guys are online Twitch. Thanks

Italians seem to be a bit different ;) When I recognized this thread last night (Midnight in Mid-Europe) the stream was running featuring Vintage, but now at 2:30 pm it's offline... I'm sure they will get it on very soon and then again stream till 1-2 am.

Anyway, good job on having at least some footage, even though there is a lot of room for improvement ;)

Are there any numbers/Top 8 lists from the Legacy Side Event on friday?

According to their FB there were 91 people for the Legacy side event. I haven't seen any decklists yet (but Sawatarix made top-8 according to his post in the ANT thread).
Hope the main event stream starts soon :)

Are there any numbers/Top 8 lists from the Legacy Side Event on friday?

Can we also get some information from the mainevent yesterday? Players, Top8, Lists etc.? Big tournaments in europe aren't common so it would be glad if you share the data.

According to their Facebook page, Top 8 is played on Sunday.

Coverage is really bad for this event. Sadly.

no coverage for most of the time, while we know the main event is being played. Not top 8 names, no lists of standing midway etc etc..

and everything in italian...

The event itself is quite good.

Two good friends of mine, Tomas Vlcek and Angelo Cadei just met in the finals of Ovino9, both piloting the one and only and best 4-Ponder version (of Miracles) with the correct sideboard. Angelo took it down 2-1.

Greetings

So a Miracles mirror in the finals, anyone know the other decks in the t8 or t16? Judging by what was streamed Miracles seemed everywhere.

So apparently people still don't understand you have to play against Miracles in Europe and especially Italy. :/

Anyway, Coverage is still bad. Is it so hard to get ONE website up, were you post results?
Not even commenting on the stream...

Apparently no one in Europe plays delver of secrets. For that, I am envious.

Deathblade-Miracles-Combo orgy, instead. I didn't see many Treasure Cruises either, but I guess that goes hand-in-hand with Delver.

Anyone know how the rule lawyering issue was resolved at the end of the following match?

http://www.twitch.tv/mtgquality/b/574914174

The U/R Delver player attacks with Monastery Swiftspear, bolts twice, presenting lethal with the +1/+1 counters. Then the Miracles player seems to say that he bolted after damage so the +1/+1 counters don't count and/or that he forgot his triggers? Then they talk with judges for 15 minutes.

Lol, that miracles player was in a hurry to change his life total. No wonder it got messed up.

Judges rulled in UR delver player's favour. The Italian guy was fishy all the way. He tried to force the Switspear's combat damge before the bolts and prowess triger claiming that oponent bolted him after combat damage (wtf!?), which was naturally not true. Still the judges took 15 mins to make the rulling but then again.. organization and judging in general was so bad it took in average more than 2 hours of time between rounds.

Some general comments and thoughts after the tournament. This was definetly the worst tournament I've ever participated in. Previously I've been a fan of Ovino series but this year my or can I say everybody's experience was full of disapointement, anger and frustration. Pretty much all events started 1 to 1,5 hours later than stated, but.. let's say that was to be expected (but still not good..).
Event was severly understaffed. As far as I remember modern gathered more than 300 people and legacy 400 something. There were NOT enough judges to cover such mass of people especially considering the specific infrastructure - place had several playing rooms. Those rooms were not covered by judges approprietly, meaning judge calls were very awkward, players, when seated, did not know if round started or when it ended.. this is bad..
As mentioned delays and long waits continued throughout the rounds during both modern main event on Friday and legacy main event on Saturday. It took almost (and sometimes more) 2 hours between the rounds. This is not acceptable.. in any way.. no excuses..period. For those of you that can't imagine how bad it actually was. Round 6 fnished at.. I hope I remember corretly at around 22-23:00 (+ it took in average additional hour to process result and start new round) ?!? There were 10 round to be held + top8 which was later cut down to 9 round and T16.
Pretty much all events had terrible prize/per entry fee ratio considering how many players showed up for the event. I can understand you as the organizer can have some costs, paying the staff, maybe even rent for the infrastructure, but still making some rough caluclation I can't say that I don't feel disgusted. Prizes were pretty terrible, some really quite dissapointing for the people that thad great results, placing 9-32. As prizes were not raised as many of players expected due to large player turnout I got a feeling that it turned out more of a cash grab.
I know many people came from quite far away and spent quite some amount of money for their trip and personal time for this torunament (me included) and I can't feel but dissapointed or dare I say even ripped..
On the bright side there were good sandwiches in cantina and Dragon shields were only 6,5€.

I'm going to provide a quick recap for all the observations and questions raised in the topic.

First of all the streaming was done entirely in Italian (sadly) due to some technical difficulties throughout the entire coverage.
Microphones didn't work properly and we were forced to restart computers steadily to reset some terrible echo that continued to show up while speaking.

I apologize for not being able to provide any content in English- I was the guy behind the Twitch chat who responded to everybody's questions and I would have gladly done a few commentaries in English but delays, coincidences... You know how it ends when this kind of stuff piles up.

The U/R Delver debate was resolved after several judges consulting with each of the players and trying to reconstruct the whole sequence. The issue was that the Miracle player understood that the U/R Delver opponent had fired a couple of Bolts AFTER having assigned combat damage with Swiftspear, while obviously the U/R Delver player said that he put those on stack before dealing damage. Since the Miracle player was at 9, it was a matter of life or death. Eventually judges agreed with U/R Delver's version as they recognized some form of spoken miscommunication between players (maybe speaking with low voice and not hearing each other). Prowess is a compulsory trigger as well.

@Mr Miagi:
I understand your feelings about this having been a very bad tournament due to the massive delay in the afternoon. I can emphatize especially with the multitude of foreigners who came to Italy just for the tournament and who had booked flights and stay-ins at the hostels with precise timings pissed off by everything taking more time to be concluded. From what I know, some of the top8ers even conceded and didn't show up to play out the top8 during the morning after because they were forced to fly/travel back home.
The problem was caused by some byes obtained from non-registered trial events (like, local tourneys) that fucked up the WER system making pairings. Judges had to pair again all the app.ly 480 players after round 2.

The top16 consisted of:
5 Miracles
4 Deathblade
2 ANT
1 Esperblade
1 Dredge
1 Spanish Thresh
1 Merfolks
1 Spiral Tide

I can confirm that Miracles is indeed the deck to beat in Italy(/Europe?) and it is the best players' favourite. Deathblade, anyways, surprinsingly proved to be another contender. BUG Delver and Shardless flopped totally.
The Italian Legacy Invitational, however, was won by Team America in a close finals against the same Miracle player who won the Main Event.

I hope you had fun from following the coverage despites all the inconveniences. We (Mtgquality.it staff) tried to do our best.
If we ever happen to do it again in the years to come, we will try to improve for sure.
Thanks

-Fabio

I know that Dredge defeated High Tide and the Deathblade guy with the Savannah defeated Anton Karlinski.
