Hey guys,

Bob "Metagame" Huang is here again and needs your help!

Here is the Top 36 from Ovino. I would like to know the missing decks for a metagame analysis before GP NJ. Thanks!!:laugh::cool:

1. Alexey Romanchuk - Merfolk
2. Silvio Corbari - ANT
3. Angelo Cadei - Miracles
4. Tomas Vlcek - Miracles
5. Roberto Libanore - Spiral Tide
6. Anton Karlinski - Miracles
7. Gabriele Tocchi - DeathBlade
8. Jaume Bonet Restoy - RUG Delver
9. Andrea Saita - Miracles
10. Marco Montani - DeathBlade
11. Fabio Di Pasquale - DeathBlade
12. Ivan Fuseri - Dredge
13. Danil Leontyev - ANT
14. Luca Mcacagnan - EsperBlade
15. Giulio Zorzi - Miracles
16. Fabio Mezzo - DeathBlade
17. Florian Stange - Burn
18. Martin Vonasek - ANT
19. Alessandro Smanio
20. Andrea Bazzan - TES
21. Petr Stuchly - Sneak and Show
22. Davide Annunziata
23. Andrej Rutar - Viking Funeral (UR Delver)
24. Andrea Levratti
25. Bernd Fritsch - Elves
27. Michael Thiel - Nic Fit
29. Riccardo Biava - Miracles
30. Andrea Ghesini - UWR Delver
36. Julian Knab - Elves

Definitely an interesting top metagame. The abundance of StoneBlade and lack of Delver is very surprising. Also no D&T, Show and Tell or Elves.

id imagine that imperial painter would have WRECKED the format there...esper is pretty weak without equipment, and outside of equipment all they have is TNN which gets blasted....as does everything in miracles.

According to Sloshthedark who finished 18th there were 476 players in attendance. I'm guessing that easily makes this the 2nd largest non-wotc legacy event in Europe after the BoM?

You should do Top36 as everyone from 17th to 36th place had the same record at 7-2.

17th: Florian Stange on Burn
25th: Bernd Fritsch on Elves
27th: Michael Thiel on Nic Fit aka "Wuascht Survival" with Deranged Hermit, Pulokranos and other fatties
36th: me on Elves

Here's the list:

Not having 8th is maddening when trying to do a meta analysis, hopefully it'll be up on TC soon.

According to this website (http://www.metagame.it/liste-mazzi-legacy/1712-legacy-top-8-ovinogeddon-9-milano.html) Restoy was on BUG Delver. They incorrectly list him in 16th place though.

29 is UWR Miracles, he played against UR Delver on screen, but his build seemed to deviate a bit from the norm, as he sided out a Crucible of Worlds.

@Julian23: Do you have a list for Wuascht Survival?

Not only True-Name Nemesis! We also counted that there were ten Plains and three Bloodstained Mires.

That's a really weird meta. Everybody playing controllish blue or combo.

UR Delver should have cut through that like a knife but it didn't show at all in the final 32. Jund should have had a good showing there and must have been played but it didn't show either. Abrupt Decay and Goyf were both essentially absent from the late tables.

Lack of Elves is strange but with so many Miracles getting into the top 16 it's understandable I guess.

I guess the European meta is just a different beast than the North American one.

UR delver really doesnt shine vs combo and UW Miracle tbh.

I personally took out of top 16 2 elves players (im the dredge).

Btw here in italy Miracle is one of the most played deck among the good players

Just looking locally it seems like UR Delver has a very good game against Miracles. It's hard for Miracles to resolve a solution to an early problem through Daze, Spell Pierce and Force of Will and post-board the UR Delver player has Blood Moon, which is really ugly against a Miracles player in most builds. It's possible this is different in the European meta due to players not playing Blood Moon or something like that?

As to combo I know UR Delver is good there as long as the delver list is on the play. On the draw, well that's hard to deal with for any list playing against combo.

I didnt saw many pierce in the ur cruise lists thb and its allright because 12 reactive spell's are kinda bad with pyro and monastery, that's the main issue vs combo and controll.

Btw strong italians miracle player play list able to play pretty well against a turn 3 moon, most likely they have 9/10 fetchlands, 6 basics and 12 cantrips, imho it would be a pretty useless board in, strong only if its a turn 3, and only if they fetched pretty badly, many player would still try to have basics only to avoid a possible PoP.

G1 Ur Delver rarely packs Spell Pierces. They *can* still win it against Miracles, but the idea is that you have to open a nuts hand (a.k.a delver+bolts+daze) and blast their face before they even realize the match has started.
If miracles gets to stabilize (as far as i've seen, they get to most of times), even at 3-6 lifepoints, UR is doomed.

1. UR packs no Fireblast to deal the final blows.
2. The whole deck dies to Counter-Top, except Treasure Cruise.
3. No matter how much storm you can do to pump up your monk, it can be flash-chumpblocked, vanishing your efforts.
4. No matter how much storm you can do to fill the board with miserable 1/1's, 1-cc wraths of god will wait for you on the top of their deck.
5. If they cast Treasure Cruise in order to dig for answers, go back to point 2. No matter how many Treasure Cruise the miracle player allows them to resolve, what they will draw is still gonna be countered.

I don't know about G2, probably UR has slightly better odds than g1 due to to its sideboard bringing more value to the match than miracles' (not much against tempo in the standard miracle 15's), but it's not thanks to Blood Moon.
If the Miracle player knows what he's doing (and he reads Ein's articles) he will fetch for basic lands as soon as he sees a volcanic and tempo-pieces (taxing counters, cantrips, delvers) in g1.
G2 he'd board in disenchant or wear//tear and make sure he has a basic plains on the ground when Moon hits the stack.
Heck, many miracle players are in fact playing their own blood moon(s) in the sideboard, i can't see how it can turn out being an issue.

High Tide top 8 WOOO HOO YEAHHHHH!

Woohoo indeed.

But wtf. Can't they post 60 card decklist??

25 instants
16 sorcery
3 artifact
11 lands??

since instants, sorcery and artifact count goes to 44 cards this means only 16 lands? Does Spiral tide really operate on 16 lands now? Always thought it's more of a 18+ lands type of deck? Feline, your view on that?

It is very likely a typo and has more lands than that. One of my recent finishes is noted to have a 12 card sideboard, with only 1 counterbalance instead of 4. Errors happen sometimes.
