I try this deck since few weeks. I named it "Exile on Faerie St." because it's a rolling (stones) deck

10 Island
4 Ancient Tomb
4 City of Traitors

4 Chrome Mox
4 Lotus Petal
4 Serum Powder
4 Chalice of the Void
2 Umezawa's Jitte => Edit 19/12 : 2 Winter orb

4 Illusory Angel
4 Misthollow Griffin
4 Sea Drake
4 Serendib Efreet

4 Force of Will
4 Thirst for Knowledge

Serum Powder => for find a "wonder T1" like this:
T1 : Illusory Angel with Chrome Mox/Lotus Petal + Ancient Tomb/City of Traitors
T1 : Chalice of The Void@1
And further Serum Powder is good on Game2/Game3 for sideboard and getting hate cards. And remember "Faerie Stompy" often mulligans

Thirst for Knowledge : for cycling Serum Powder (or Lotus Petal)

Misthollow Griffin nice with Chrome Mox/Force of Will/Serum Powder

Trinket Mage is too slow. It's impossible to play it for wishing combine CoV@1 and CoV@2. It's happen one game per twenty or more...

Cloud of Faeries is good, but not the best deal with Illusory Angel because it's burn a lot. Look for example this turn :
you have Ancient Tomb + island. You play Cloud of Faeries=> 2pts! And after you play Illusory Angel=> 2pts more and 1pt burn mana => 5pts total ! Aïe Aïe
So I remove there and I name the deck "Exile on Faerie St." because there are no more Faerie! This is no longer a faerie deck

And I like playing 16x"Middle Flying Creatures with 3/4 power". It's Huge

Work in progress...

You can imprint the griffin on the chrome mox, but if you cast it later from the exile zone the mox will not provide any mana because it would not have an imprinted card anymore.

yes, but chrome mox can used one last time for call Griffin. After chrome become a dead card.

You might want to specify that you're floating mana when you do this, because technically Misthollow Griffin will be on the stack when you're paying its cost - which means the Mox can't tap for mana. Most people do it this way "in real life" but the game itself puts the spell on the stack first, before costs are paid.

Honestly I don't know that this is the literal worst way to use Misthollow Griffin and Chrome Mox. I mean that as a compliment; most people are content to simply sacrifice a Lotus Petal one time and be done with it, but this is more like a Lotus Petal that can be used and re-used until you cast the Griffin. In that regard, it might actually be a really great way of getting the best of both worlds; a threat which is relatively 'safe' from in-hand disruption and other tricks until you're dead-set on casting it. Not bad.

True, but something like this still doesn't seem half bad:
T1: mox, island, chalice 1
...
T3-4: lose mox ability, cast griffin

Not sure of the strength of deck overall, but I think the griffin is a pretty good card in this deck because it fights against the inherent card disadvantage required for these archetypes (FoW ,petal ,chrome , serum, etc.) Having an evasive beater with some immunity to sotp/council's judgement is a neat little bonus too.

I agree that it's not totally bad, but I felt it was something to point out.

theoretically this deck could work, but it doesn't do anything great, and it is not going to be consistent enough, just like every other stomp deck. There is no hand manipulation or card draw which are both essential to winning strategies. Additionally true-name nemesis probably warrants a spot in here.

you may also consider seahunter fetches TNN and others

notable merfolk

true-name nemesis
master of waves
prime speaker zegana

Faerie Stompy variants are kind of at a low point due to main list REB/Pyroblasts. I really like some of the tech in the list though.

Technically Faerie Stompy variants prey on decks playing Pyroblasts maindeck, because those decks (UR, Miracles) can function because of their cc1 spells…which get hosed by Faerie Stompy main gameplan, which is sticking a Chalice for 1 or a fast Trinisphere.

Edit: Speaking about that specific build, you may want to cut petals, since MUD decks need stable mana sources, not one shots. Also Serum Powder seem incredibly bad. I'd cut those 8 and play threats like Nemesis, as suggested above, and/or Jtms as a brainstorm on a stick so you don't run out of fuel. Wake thrasher is also nice considering you always tap out and play lots of permanents, and can be fetched by Seahunter.

It's why Serendib Efreet and Illusory Angel with her 4 toughness and CoV@1 is important

Misthollow Griffin nice against Swords to Plowshares

for moment I prefere Sea Drake than true-name nemesis (in this deck, but for sure TNN is better otherwise, I will test it by change the slot)

I feel like this deck wants one more piece of lock, like a Back to Basics. Even though that card is anti-synergistic with your own non basics, it really locks out a lot of decks in the format. And it's not like Tomb and City are played for their longevity anyway.

Have you tested Serum Powder? I'm curious if it actually works in practice.

The problem with these kind of Faerie Stompy builds is, you're putting too much focus on the beaters and not enough on actually what made the deck so powerful:
Locking players out with CotV & Trinket Mage.

I made a deck a while back that ran Trinket, Man-O'-War and Rushing River that played excellent. You basically try to lock them out with Chalice while bouncing creatures back making, slowly locking them out. Trinket also gives you pithing needles and Sigil for beatdowns, Man-O-War can bounce early lackey and Delver on T1 and bounce Emrakul if they S&T. You can still run Drake, but that'd be my 2-cents, I don't think a 3/3 flyer "commander" is game changing enough 'cause you have no way of dealing with their board position and it's expensive to cast, if they remove it and wasteland you might straight up lose if you already had to sac' Petal just to cast it.

Just a minor Point: there's no more mana burn in MTG.

I tend to suggest more lock pieces, first and foremost Trinisphere. However, a friend of mine tested a deck like yours a while back against my miracles deck. And I remember that I consistently beat Trinisphere. Chalice, however, is (more often than not): Force or lose. As to Back to Basics: it doesn't stop a lot of spells, because your Opponent can still cast as many Pyroblasts as he has red sources in his deck (some miracle Players even have maindeck Mountain). 4 Chalice plus 3-4 Trinisphere I think are the way to go.

+1 for True-Name Nemesis in the threat section.

Really? I don't know that! When i played magic in 1994-1996, juzam djinn was the best beast and we had this rule.

I play magic 3 times period : 1994/1996 when double land cost 3 or 4 euros, and 2009-2010 with a eldrariel faerie stompy

I'm back in business with this deck with my faerie deck I kipped

Isn't this just Faerie Stompy (http://www.mtgthesource.com/forums/showthread.php?16742-Deck-Faerie-Stompy)?

Faerie stompy without faerie. And serum powder as a substitute of trinket mage

And with lotus petal and without sword

Flying stompy?

I prefer named it : "exile faerie st." for explain why serum powder is a main unslotted card

I try this deck on cockatrice this morning and with good result between show and tell deck

For now, i hav't build sideboard, and serum powder would be fine on g2 and g3 for getting hate sideboard cards

But Faerie Stompy doesn't have actual Faeries on the list.

Basically this is just a metagamed Faerie Stompy (or Sea Stompy as what the original thread mentioned).

You want Jace and TNN in this deck, trust me. You also want some sort of MisD/FoW. The deck plays two ways 1) play a creature, protect it, win. or 2) play a bombshell control card, protect it, win. So lines of Turn 1 Illusory Angel, or Turn 1 Chalice @ 1 are usually GG. Jace and TNN help you with both routes to victory as will Misdirection and Force of Will. I used to play a version with 5 equipment (2 Jitte, 2 Sofi, 1 Soff) and would play with Stoneforge Mystics as well. It's a fun deck, but without Jace/Brainstorm you can lose out very quickly.

Umezawa's Jitte is perhaps overkill on Main Deck (should I put on Sideboard), and you're right : little more control is necessary

I try Winter Orb. Does this cards still control a lot of deck? I tried it only 10 games in cockatrice and should I play more and more games for having opinion about it.
