Hello all. This is a concept deck and obviously untested and non-optimized. The idea is to use torrent elemental and misthollow griffin to gain CA by negating the "pitch blue spell" cards' drawbacks. Commandeer is a powerful card that can really wreck a player - and if you are pitching cards that you will be able to use later - all the better. Additionally I included both - treasure cruise and Ancestral vision, since this deck constantly needs to replenish it's hand due to the aforementioned pitch cards. Obviously the goal of the deck is to last the first four turns through free countermagic - and counterspell - and then replenish your hand and cast a threat from exile - and repeat.

Please let me know if this concept has merit, and if there are anyways to improve upon it. Thank you.

Basically I think Ancestral Visions needs to be scrapped, it's too slow. I'm actually surprised you're not playing the card that has you search your deck and exile 3 cards or w/e, seems like it'd be perfect fit.

Besides that I really think you need earlier options before you get to turn 4-5 other than just brainstorming, you need like Dismember, Snapcaster, Clique or something like that.

I did not include manipulate fate because it does not give you any CA - sure you can get all your torrent elemental into exile - but that's not what you really want to do. Preferably you want them in your hand to pitch for your free spells.

As for what else we need - I agree - this deck needs to do more during Turn 1-3. Dismember is a good idea, since this deck is weak towards creatures in general (Misdirection and commandeer don't effect creatures). I also foresee the deck having trouble with YP/MM tokens.

Maybe standstill over visions? Counter the first thing they do, Jam standstill. Also, maybe some sol lands or something to cast the guys faster? Or better yet, Back to basics.

4 TC seems a little greedy without much to fill your 'yard. Have you considered Delvers?

Those are actually all good points. Thanks! I am happy that this concept is not being readily dismissed.

Changes from OP so far seem to be:

+4 Delver
- 4 Visions

TC might be a little greedy - perhaps replacing it with Standstill.

I am simply afraid that this deck will run out of gas after pitching one too many times, and that it needs as much card draw as possible.

TC gives you another RFG outlet for your dudes, but there's no way you'll have enough fuel to delve all 4. My other big concern is paying 4 and 5 mana for Grifffin and Elemental with 17 lands. Since you're running trops anyway, maybe Carpet of Flowers? Lets you stay tapped out for Counterspell/BS while dropping cantrip sorceries.

Another option to speed up the deck is Chrome Mox. It fits well the profit-from-exile plan of the deck. It was used in the same way in Faerie Stompy with Misthollow Griffin.

I'm not sure the creature quality is good enough to just work as a beater deck. Any number of critters can race you pretty well.
