I really enjoyed the matchup analysis here, even if it lacked Elements like using DRS to Control t.hold of Cabal Rituals to prevent simple Tutor chaining rather than a PIF loop to kill.

It's also a bit of a waste to talk about TES, but never go into details on WHY the deck plays Rites of Flame or the manabase looks the way it does now

Well, you guys are the only reason to have soundcloud in my phone at the moment.))
Like Lemnear I enjoyed the matchup analysis, and I can see why something had to be left out do to time issues (more than 2 hours is huge I think ).
However, I was also expecting a deeper explanation of the cantrips in this Deck and how to use them at their full potential.
Well, this are only my personal thoughts, but you're doing a great job and I'm looking forward to episode 3[emoji36]

Well, you guys are the only reason to have soundcloud in my phone at the moment.

In fact, we have deleted our Soundcloud account and you can now find all current and future podcasts on our website (www.thebrainstormshow.com). For your convenience, we have an RSS feed for the show as well: www.thebrainstormshow.com/feed/podcast. Thanks so much for listening and we really appreciate the feedback!

good job, that site and the show got off a hot start.

There're couple cards, not deck-specific, I hope Storm players could have give some comments on whether they count as hate, or whether they are effective.
Vendilion Clique (some blade decks and miracles)
Leyline of Sanctity
Trap (probably doesn't matter, but maybe worthy to give comments on).

The generic one-two punch
Using Burning Wish/Grim Tutor/flashback PiF as a bait, holding Infernal tutor as plan b.

Going manual
I've seen Storm players trying to go manual (holding Tendrils in hand, attempt to win off 7 spells). A Timely Clique pretty much threw that plan off.

Difficulty level
PV ranked Storm as the most difficult deck to play (let's not count doomsday) http://www.channelfireball.com/articles/pvs-playhouse-hard-decks/

Thanks, Lemnear! Yes, it's very difficult to include everything, and sometimes we forget to explain small interactions that come second nature to us because we are so focused on describing "the big picture" I guess.

We wanted to briefly define TES so that people who aren't as intimately familiar with Legacy Storm variants can have a better understanding of what Storm deck we are discussing and what Storm deck they are sitting across from at a tournament. It also helped frame what was essentially our thesis on ANT: ANT is a Past in Flames combo deck. Most of our discussion of TES boiled down to one point and one conclusion we wanted listeners to draw: if you want to play an Ad Nauseam combo deck, play TES. I think we will definitely try to answer the "why" questions of TES if/when we do an episode on TES. Thanks for the feedback!

First, I think one Episode on storm is enough so you can take on other archetypes with that excellent matchup talk listeners would enjoy. The point between PIF.dec/AN.dec was pretty clear, but the WHY wasn't much fleshed out for my taste. A line of thought like Cabal Ritual -> need to build t.hold -> takes several turns to do so -> more damage dealt to me by my opponent and my own gameactions (Fetches/Probes/etc.) -> worse Ad Nauseams would have been helpful to make clear why Ad Nauseam is underperforming in Cabal Ritual Storm variants aside from games versus control/combo and is slowly leaving the mainboards as a recent Mainstream trend. We could do similar to explain the fundamental working schemes in TES based on Rite of Flame whichs cmc are only part of the reason why the card is a staple in the deck, but the true power is within providing the super-important double red mana to chain Burning Wish into PIF or EtW, a common playline which is only possible via RoF, LED or a combination of Volcanic Island plus Lotus Petal, not to talk about the strengh of it post-Ad Nauseam, to ramp up to ridiculous amounts of mana with very limited initial mana available. It however was an Episode on ANT, so not going into those details of TES is very forgivable especially as Carsten also missed out on that stuff in his SCG article on the decks, despite being a local ;P

I think the complete differentiating within the storm supertype is pointless anyways as picking on decknames. Back when I was among the peeps suggesting to Cedric on Twitter that SCG just labels all those variants as "Storm" to get rid of the name nickpicking and hilarious labeling we saw before. I call the Status quo a success.

I enjoyed the Episode. Keep up the good work.

Hey there! I just found this and will give your show a listen!

I would love to trade notes on podcasting. Episode 2 of my Legacy podcast went like on MtGcast Monday.

Heck, maybe it would be nice to look into guest starting on each other's shows or doing something else together. Hit me up on here, or, even better, on email or Twitter.

Knowledgeable is key. I would not mind hearing a knowledgeable player give this kind of review for all the major decks. It has the major advantage of cutting through the chaff on the forum threads.

Really liking these guys. I'm still pretty new to Legacy and I find your discussions quite helpful.

Which one of you is a dad? I have a 10-month old --fun connecting with Magic dads.

Also, where are you guys physically located?

Hey man, I'm the dad (Wilson Hunter). I have a 10-month old too! I am in Johnson City, TN. Paul is in Charlottesville, VA, and Phil is in Raleigh/Durham, NC. I grew up in Charlottesville, and Paul was one of my best friends in high school. I met Phil in college at Appalachian State. So glad you're enjoying the podcast!
