This is based on the classic Fruity/Cocoa Pebbles combo decks of yore. It uses Enduring Renewal, Blasting/Grinding Station, and a 0cc artifact creature to go off. It can win on turn two, and fairly consistently on turn 3/4. It represents one of the fastest clocks available. I know it's fragile, but just looking to get some feedback.

Thanks!

It's quiet in hear! I would love to hear some feedback and suggestions. Please keep in mind that this is just an initial list. It hasn't been tested or tuned.

Thanks!

Enduring Renewal

Added tags so people know what cards are.

Honestly I don't think it will ever work. You have no counterspells or disruption, so any Artifact or Enchantment killing card will blow up one of your 3 card combo pieces.

More than that though, you have to dodge Leyline of Sanctity, every graveyard hate there is (enduring renewal is a triggered ability, so Rest in Peace, Relic of Progenitus, and every other commonly used piece will stop the combo), stuff that's commonly played like Abrupt Decay, or even a Path to Exile on one of your creatures.

Lastly there's no backup plan. At least Splinter Twin can consistently kill people by attacking for 2 a turn and using Lightning Bolts.

I'd play play Tezzeret as a dig Spell. You then have a 3 card kill combo, a Mox, and the most powerful Planeswalker in the game. You could even play the mono-Blue Tezz to find 60% of your combo.

Also play 4 Mox Opal. Less is wrong. Always. I might throw this together for the next Modern FNM. (This week is Legacy!)

Your post board plan against some decks will need to be removing Grinding station, as a concession to Snapcaster Mages, and Ancient Gridge. If you mill them, they get a free Ancient Grudge at some point and your combo is no longer a kill. I'd play something closer to:

Creatures: 16
4 Memnite
4 Ornithopter
4 Children of Korlis
4 Street Wraith

Permanents: 23
4 Springleaf Drum
4 Mox Opal
4 Grinding Station
2 Blasting Station
4 Enduring Renewal
4 Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas
1 Tezzeret, the Seeker

Spells: 4
4 Path to Exile

Lands: 17
4 Glimmervoid
4 Gemstone Mine
4 Darksteel Citadel
2 Godless Shrine
1 Watery Grave
2 Hallowed Fountain

That would be my build for now. Less of an all in combo plan, with mild interaction, and if you make an Enduring Ideal, you can use Wrath + Children of Korlis to draw your deck (or most of it, anyway).

Thanks for the feedback guys. This was a very rudimentary list, with a focus on winning as quickly as possible.

I think you're right that disruption of some kind is crucial. Serum Powder is cute, but could easily be cut for Inquisition/Duress/Thoughtseize or maybe Pact of Negation.

I hadn't even thought of Tezzeret! That could be totally sick.

Both Tezzerets have a reasonably useful + ability (Agent's beinh bonkers) and their — should just win you the game on the spot.

Something I just figured out; the Children are redundant. I thought Street Wraith + Children drew your deck, but it doesn't. I'm stupid. Minor rebuild of bits is probably required. I also cut the Enduring Ideals in my build for Enduring Renewals for obvious reasons...

I tried to make improvements based on the feedback I've received from various sources. What do you guys think? Is this a step in the right direction?

The big problem with the combo is that it's a 3-card combo where none of the pieces do much of anything on their own. Twin is a 2-card combo where the pieces can be useful without each other, and Scapeshift is a 1-card combo. Even Ad Nauseam Unlife seems a better combo deck because it requires only two cards. There's a reason that Fruity Pebbles was replaced by Trix (Illusions of Grandeur+Donate); it just required fewer cards.

I think the way to build this deck would be less as a combo deck and more as a deck that happens to have a combo in it... that's indeed been a major key to Twin's success. Making this more in the vein of UB Tezzeret seems like it would be better. Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas is stellar at finding your combo pieces with his +1, can turn Memnite and Blasting Station into powerful creatures with his -1, and can win you the game with his -4.
