I love the Legacy format above all. However, I'm also more into building my own original decks rather than building them off of pre-made templates. But... i want the best of both worlds, and I want to win... Do you guys think this deck list has any chance of being competitive?

4 x Winter Orb
2 x Static Orb
4 x Propaganda
2 x Pendrell Mists
4 x Howling Mine
2 x Font of Mythos
2 x Ebony Owl Netsuke
4 x Liliana's Caress
4 x Force of Will
3 x Daze
4 x Chalice of the Void
2 x Wash Out
1 x Toxic Deluge
1 x Venser's Journal
3 x Mox Diamond

LANDS

3 x City of Traitors
4 x Ancient Tomb
4 x Watery Grave
2 x River of Tears
2 x Reliquary Tower
3 x island

Turn 1 - Chalice / Howling Mine

Turn 2 - Lock the opponent (winter orb/static orb/propaganda)

Turn 3 - wipe the board (pendrell mists, wash out, toxic deluge)

Turn 4 - bring the pain (liliana's caress, ebony owl)

Force of will and daze help you counter artifact/enchantment hate without using mana. Mox diamond/City of Traitors/Ancient Tomb for early turn one ramp.

Let me know if any of this seems too fragile!!! Thanks :)

The concept makes sense. I don't know, I've seen these kind of decks before. Generally what happens is, you'll have those 1/4 games where you'll get a god hand and when you win, you win big. You get your opening chalice, your lock, you follow up with a wincon, etc. The problem is that so many times, the other 3/4 games you'll end up just losing to yourself... you'll drop your Howling Mine, Winter Orb, then your wincon gets countered and a goyf just beats you down ftw. I think to really correct that this type of deck almost needs a Wish toolbox approach, or just more tutors/brainstorms in general to ensure you get what you need exactly when you need it. I feel like Jace really wants to be in here, since it's draw/bounce and backup wincon in one... if stuff goes wrong sometimes he can just sorta win by himself.

Off the top... Venser's Journal should be cut, too expensive and just win more card. Wash Out strikes me as more SB material... I mean, they drop a Delver and a Goyf, you just spent 4 mana to bounce one card, that would be very underwhelming.

Yeah - I see your point. I have a couple transmute artifact I could throw in, and maybe a couple jace's, or Tezzeret, Agent of Bolas ...

I figured the UU or BU mana cost would be hard to hit reliably with the shaky mana base.

Sphere of resistance was another one I was thinking to slow the game down until I get my lock pieces. With Winter Orb out, you win the mana battle with your sol lands and artifacts.

but yeah - you do have to prepare turn 1 or 2 early aggro in case you deck is slower than anticipated....

- 2 wash out
- 1 venser's journal
- 3 Daze

+ 2 sphere of resistance
+ 2 Jace tms
+ 2 transmute arti
