Hello All,
I am trying to think of my best options for 1cc discard outlets. Besides faithless looting, careful study, and self targeted discard...what cards are good?

It definitely depends on what deck you're looking to play. Lion's eye diamond, putrid imp, and tireless tribe are also discard outlets but obviously do not fit into every deck.
Hapless Researcher and Putrid Imp are playable, also Firestorm. Look no further than the dredge threads.

Lightning Axe is really good in most metas. It's definitely one of the best SB dredge outlets.

Lightning Axe still need a legal creature to target. At that situation, Firestorm is better(at least you can target your opponent and yourself).

Right, but you have to resolve Firestorm to get the effect. An opponent who dazes your Firestorm leaves you in a pickle with the creature still on the board and no outlet in the yard yet.
You can just cast Lightning Axe on a Delver or DRS or a 2cc creature on the opponent's turn 2 and get your dredge outlet in the yard. You may or may not kill the creature depending on whether the opponent has Daze or some other way to prevent Lightning Axe from resolving but you get the thing you need most which is the card in the yard.

As an additional cost to play Firestorm, discard X cards.
Firestorm deals X damage to each of X target creatures and/or players.... Oracle text

Discarding the cards is a cost for Firestorm, afaik, so aren't you just fine aside from lower damage output compared to Lightning Axe?

Yes it is a cost, and always was a cost.
The way it is worded on the actual card "Choose and discard X cards: Firestorm..." is the old convention they used to mark the additional costs of a card. anything before the colon has to be paid to cast the spell, after is an effect.

If the discard is a cost it's better to use Firestorm than Lightning Axe except when you're trying to ditch a biggish goyf early on.

There are some spells that require what you might think of conceptually as a "cost" in the text box but are actually part of the ability that resolves, though, so you really have to look at the Gatherer to see how they're interpreted nowadays.

I dislike spells as discard outlets because what's the point of a one-shot when your intention is to discard reliably? The one exception to this dislike might be anything with Flashback, like Cabal Therapy or Faithless Looting (though if you're trying to, like, cast some Madness spells or whatever, Faithless Looting is bullshit)
Really the best ones IMHO are non-mana activations like Tireless Tribe, Putrid Imp. Kris Mage is... interesting I guess. It showed up in Sligh lists a little bit, I think basically when the player wanted to ditch land for pinging 1/1s or sealing the deal.
Tireless Tribe makes me feel like Doran Madness would be hilariously bad in a good way. Except Doran is not good in Legacy, but no matter.

... though, so you really have to look at the Gatherer to see how they're interpreted nowadays. Realistically most old cards should be checked in Gatherer.

Your query wouldn't have caught Firestorm.
It's better to try multiple searches. But best to talk with people.
Also, "clog the forums"? Really?

I feel like "cluttered" would be a better word, but he has a point.
This thread is more useless than even KobeBryan's usual ones. The OP provided no information and therefore all of these suggestions are more or less equally irrelevant, and the OP has not participated in the thread since it's creation. As a result, it's just a jumble that exists to be necro'd weeks later by idiots with even more dumb and especially irrelevant suggestions.
