View Full Version : Selling Out - mostly
This is not a sale thread.
I'm liquidating, fellas. It just feels like it is finally time. I will probably still be active in the community and maybe even brewing for a long time. I do not think the game has jumped the shark. But I am 40. I have four kids. I have not been to a major event since 2012. I can't even make the local ones any more. I just play casual with friends when I can. We all have big, old collections. We proxy at will even for cards we own. (It is easier than searching through your collection.) If I sold every last card my group probably would not notice for a decade. And I get nervous that my kids will decide to tape my Bazaars of Baghdad to the spokes of their bicycles or something.
I am keeping my Death and Taxes stuff. It makes sense to hold on to that for a variety of reasons. And I sold my power ages ago. But beyond that I have nearly everything. I will be selling it as singles for as many of the cards as I can. I have a friend helping me do the sale because it will take awhile.
I have no interest in ripping folks off. You can trust me not to welch on a deal. My real name is Daniel Payne. I will have the stuff on ebay and tcgplayer. But the tcgplayer stuff will be overpriced. Don't buy there. As soon as the auction is ready I will post the link or something.

Hahahah! That was my reaction too.
Finn,
Given that this is not a sales thread, what was the intention for this post?
I suspect you will be happier with the cash than you will be with unused cardboard. I recommend you consider putting together a cube. It sounds like you have a substantial collection and a pressing financial need isn't your motivation to cash out. A cube allows you to fulfill your innate desire to have a collection but also acts as a functional game for when you have a few like-minded individuals interested in killing a couple hours. Plus you probably already have everything you need, you just need to assemble all the pieces together in 1 box.
Good luck selling everything!

There is nothing to discuss and this forum would be horrendous if everyone started a thread whenever they have something for sale. You say this is not a sale, but rather a commercial for your sales. So when you post links to your auctions - will you consider it a sale by then?
I think a sales thread is for conducting sales. I am not doing that here. Honestly, the auction will not need commercials either. I am entirely confident that most of this stuff will sell no matter what.
I am letting the community know that I am selling or auctioning cards that I have been accumulating for twenty-one years. Since I value my good standing around here, you all have a strong reason to trust that I will not make off with your money and fail to deliver. But mostly I wanted to announce that
I
am
retiring.
Got it?
Ace, I want the cash. Thanks for the kind wishes.

You're one of the few non-dirt people on here. Stay active. Four kids, I cant even imagine...

Good luck selling the stuff. I started half a year ago and so far I moved just a few pieces of cardboard. But considering I had nothing special and no time and will to dick around the lgs, I'm still fine with what I achieved through MKM.
I'd love if there'd be cheap alternative to paper MtG other than crap like MWS. Maybe there's something in the full proxy environment, before I left the competitive scene I hated to sort out the cards and twiddle with the boxes just that I may switch one Forked Bolt for one Spell Snare.
Congrats on your casual group, btw. I'd love to have one.
