There are a couple of older threads where people have tried to combine Pyromancer Ascension with the standard cantrip shell - back when the ascension was spoiled (http://www.mtgthesource.com/forums/showthread.php?21746-Deck-Pyromancer-Ascension and http://www.mtgthesource.com/forums/showthread.php?15624-Deck-Pyromancer-Ascension) and more recently with young pyromancer (http://www.mtgthesource.com/forums/showthread.php?26276-Pyromancer-s-Ascension-(Grixis-Young-Pyromancer).
With the newly printed pyromancer goggles in Magic Origins, I found myself looking back at that card and wondering about running it a somewhat different way, using a BRG engine with Gitaxian Probe as a token blue representative card.
4 Gamble
4 Entomb
4 Lightning Bolt
4 Regrowth
4 Noxious Revival
4 Gitaxian Probe
4 Manamorphose
4 Pyromancer Ascension
4 Infernal Tutor
4 Abrupt Decay
4 Chrome Mox
16 lands
The planned win is to get one pyromancer ascension on-line, and the bootstrap it into a second using some kind of manamorphose/regrowth loop.
I'm trying to work out whether this should be a casual deck concept or a competitive one.
