Hey guys,

Never met artists in person before, but I'm going to meet Steve Argyle at SLC Comic Con. What do I need to bring? What should I expect? Any advice is appreciated. Want to ensure I don't regret something (such as pen type or not bringing something).

Argyle is pretty friendly and very used to magic players. In my experiences he brings about every type and color of pen you could imagine, but if you want something specific you can bring your own. Otherwise just ask him for a color or let him decide.
Just be polite and appreciative. Tipping is always appreciated, most of these guys have expenses to go to these events. Lemme dig up one of Argyles old event sheets.

edit: yeah here's his spheal from Vegas.

He might have a 12 card limit, but just look for a posting at/around his table - could be more. He's just trying to keep the line moving.

I had some cards signed for a friend by Steve Argyle at Eternal Weekend. I don't usually do the "sign my cards by artist" thing, but this was a favor for someone, and as rarely as I do this sort of thing, I was definitely impressed by Argyle's approach to the fans. He was very talkative and answered questions happily, and signed what seemed like millions of cards all day long. I personally don't know how his hand doesn't completely cramp up after doing this, but he seemed just as happy to be talking and signing late in the day as he was early in the day.'

At Eternal Weekend he was offering to sign up to 12 cards for free, and then each extra card was (I think) a dollar. He had nearly every single color pen available, but most people asked him to sign in purple or green. The purple that he used on the cards I asked him to sign came out looking REALLY nice. His signature is stylish and the purple ink looks very nice on the cards.

Argyle still tends to sign in colors that coordinate to the card if you don't specify otherwise. I'm partial to Gold, just because it's consistent and looks classy in my opinion.
Other people like things in black, silver, or whatever.

It's whatever you're partial to honestly.

Only relating to the OP title; If you give a card to RK Post, he will put a penis somewhere on it. Be warned. Or excited, if you're into that sort of thing. Which you should be.

Thanks guys, some great insight.

I like the idea of signing the multi-colored cards in split colors for the actual card. I'm excited to meet him, I've enjoyed his art work. The insight you guys shared was extremely helpful. (:

Noah Bradley posted this thread on Reddit a couple months ago:

This is definitely a good thing to read before meeting any artist. Hope you have a great experience, JPoJohnson!
