I have been thinking recently, after reading a chart on grading a card's condition for TCGplayer, that it would be interesting to purchase some damaged cards from TCGplayer. The site states that all cards that are stamped or written on by a third party will automatically be graded as damaged, and I do not make it to many events where I'd be able to meet artists so am seeing this as an interesting opportunity to collect some signed cards. I've also in the past seen hilarious sharpie alters come out of TCGplayer orders, which I feel would be interesting to own. I am going to try purchasing a handful of less expensive cards with damaged gradings, looking for ones priced similarly to NM copies.
A Lightning Greaves that I purchased a while ago from TCGplayer was signed, and my friend just got a set of signed NM Deathrite Shamans from TCG as well. Has anyone had any experience with this? I am not putting more than 20 dollars towards my experiment. I will report back in this thread with results.
