I posted this a while ago and somehow my thread was removed.
the legacy community needs to know about this. people are selling fakes, or near perfect replicas with original art
and calling them proxies.
if you type in mtg proxy in ebay, you will see that fakes are flooding the market.
Please report fakes to ebay by hitting report item
and please complain to wizards customer service. If enough people complain, then maybe something will be done.

First off, what you describe are more accurately titled "proxies masquerading as real cards"
Secondly, I'm going to need you to support your thesis before I waste my time reporting cards on eBay.
Sincerely, guy who has no problems with proxies, fakes, or anything else that allows more people to play my game.

The Reserve List is the closest thing being able to kill Legacy. And even the RL can't really accomplish that.
Fakes are just a response of the market. Wizards failed to meet the supply to the abundance of demand.

I won't argue with you with the reserved list. I agree with you.
Fakes, a market response, does not make it right.

proxies masquerading as fakes was a subtle joke
thesis or reasoning
I can see a day when
player A - trades real-looking proxy goyf with original art
player B - trades genuine Jace
player B realizes he or she has been cheated
I can see a day when
shop owners xyz can't tell the difference between a fake card and a real card
I can see a day when
the market gets flooded with cards and prices plummet
stores will go out of business, since you can just buy fakes instead of the real thing.
Did you know that baseball cards from 1985 to 1995 are basically worthless. Do you know why?
Answer: too many cards were printed.
Many or even most people play magic in someway to crack that chase rare or mythic. You know who you are.
Once the secondary market falls apart, so will magic the gathering as we know it.
Fakes will cause the secondary market to fall apart

Fakes have been discussed ad nauseam and do not generate a healthy conversation.
