1 Gideon, Ally of Zendikar
2 Jace, the Mind Sculptor

5 Island
1 Mountain
2 Plains
4 Scalding Tarn
1 Academy Ruins

4 Flooded Strand

SB

3 Containment Priest
1 Pulse of the Fields
1 Meekstone
1 Pithing Needle
1 Wear // Tear
1 Pyroclasm
2 Blood Moon
1 Flusterstorm
1 Chalice of the Void
1 Engineered Explosives
1 Envelop
1 Grafdigger's Cage
1 Surgical Extraction

RD1 4 Color Ape Delver - John Deal
I think I 2-0'd him. Mentor always beats Pyromancer and G2 Moon sealed his fate.

RD2 Internet ANT - Chris
2-1. Lost game one when there was a flusterstorm in hand but I had to pressure him with mentor. G2 and G3 all came down to Trinket -> Chalice or Cage

RD3 Jund- Arya Roohi
2-0 I love playing Jund

RD4 Shithole Shardless - SCG Grinder Vince
2-1 Bloodmoon is good

RD5 Maverick - Gavin - Draw - Get Zaxbys

TOP8 Shithole Shardless - Derrick Roper
2-0 Bloodmoon is good

TOP 4 AIDS - Jeremy Dennis
2-1 EE . Swords . Jace . Tons of Countermagic

Finals. End Boss Sean OBrien aka Nedleeds. Got Invite. Skill Game

Sorry for shitty report, I messed my back up and cant sit in my chair for more then a few mins at a time. I just wanted the internet to know how skilled I am.

I also ruined the collective anii of the non-Jon particpants of this ~40ish person SCG IQ

I played Shaved Ox Asmadi ... my deck was the most valuable deck at the event by a massive margin despite not containing blue cards.

https://scontent-atl3-1.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-xpf1/v/t1.0-9/1623689_813600212099695_8127084597821472479_n.jpg?oh=af8b3d273c151c52393fb6f4b149d1c4&oe=5706EE8D

don't worry about the sideboard, I hardly needed it to tear this event apart. I did however have the card CHOKE which would prove key to decimating the huge amount of internet at this event.

Round 1 - Food Stamp Burn

Game one he casts 7 burn spells in 9 cards. Fireblasting me to finish things off. I cast a Tarmogoyf and nothing else of interest. I comment on how interesting the match was, and how I plan on blogging about the deep and compelling decisions we both had to make.

Game two I rip his Eidolon (which I'd later find out is just Grizzly Bear). Cast 2 Goyfs and beat him down before he can finish paying off his layaway.

Game three he keeps a one draft box mountain hand. I still take his most dangerous card with Thoughtseize (yes, I had that little in my board for EBT Burn). He misses his land drop a couple of times and I get $250 Tarmogoyfs in play off $800 dual lands. My mana has been real dicey with respect to Price this game. He lands an Eidolon, and EOT I Grip it and like a true Person of Wal-Mart he misses his trigger. I win at 2 life. Burn is hard.

Round 2 - 8 Color Delver No Basics Shitbox

Game one I get the play and keep him off DRS. He floods on mana, but keeps putting them into play so the inevitable Brainstorm is less profitable. I never really felt threatened this game and ran a fetch into his Stifle I knew he had. Played Huntmaster and finished him. He missed his pyromancer trigger though I don't think it mattered.

Game two he's mana pinched, man basic Island would be the business -- thanks internet! I cast the black ancestral recall and my hand becomes god like. He can never follow up his Young Money with any pressure. I have Granger Guildmage to clean up the slops.

Round 3 - Mel Gibson in Maverick

Game one I mull to 5 and never play a 3rd land
Game two I mull to 6 and am mana screwed. I still make a bad play and don't decay flippy garruk when he flips him thinking I can get through in combat. I prioritized Sylvan Library to get me out of my land screw and it was a poor decision. I'm behind, and simply am not going to win without max luck, I should hope to raw dog the land, decay the planeswalker and pass. I lose to tokens and other woodland creatures.

Round 4 - High Tide

Game one He casts high tide, spirals, and starts going off, I have nothing to interact with in hand, not even a K-Command. I scoop because it's boring and he hasn't gotten a GRV yet thus is unlikely to hari-kari himself.

Game two Thoughtseize a Brainstorm, into Hymn (a Force of Will / Mind Rot), into Goyf beats gets there quick enough. K-command after draw makes him chuck Turnabout and he's a couple cards short of going off.

Game three I get Thoughtseize to resolve on the draw after he keeps one of 2 on Preordain. I take a Brainstorm. He casts Merchant Scroll for ... drum roll ... Surgical Extraction. I guess planning on extracting my Thoughtseize, which is like, unbelievably terrible play on his part, regardless I have to call a judge to get him to read the card Merchant Scroll as much as I'd like him to Duress and Shock himself. I play a Hymn. He does some cantripping and passes back with 3 tapped lands. Welcome to Chokeville population, You! He just scoops. Turns out you can't Misdirect Choke.

Round 5 - The Internet of Things BUG (I believe there were 6 people with the same ~73 at this thing)

I'm 3-1 in a 5 rounder. He's open to drawing. I want to play since I don't want an invite for the right to play standard with children. I win the roll.

Game one

https://cintayati.files.wordpress.com/2014/07/lady-is-overcome-and-weeps-at-destruction-of-her-neighbourhood.jpg

Bolt your DRS. Hymn you. Ancestral myself. Decay your Goyf. Play 2 Goyfs. Lil your goyf.

Game two

This goes pretty long but I'm at parity with him from sylvaning like a demon. He declined to decay my sylvan early, instead decaying LotV which he at first didn't care about. I know the internet instructs him to board out Force. Which makes Garruk easy to resolve. He quickly takes over the game, I think I could have killed him a turn earlier, but I got conservative with my own DRS healing myself to play around Psionic Blast.

Top 8 - Number 3 seed behind the fat original poster.

Round of 8 - Internet Jund

Game one I have the play and I blow him up savagely. Bob is bad in the mirror. I land a Tombstalker and it eventually eats his fucking innards, nice Punishing Fire! I ancestral and waste him out of the game.
Game two I mull to 4 and actually give him a pretty good game despite never having more than 3 mana.
Game three I wreck him again with Asmadi Elder Dragon powers. I have beaucoup removal, refill with Painful Recall, continue the pressure, he almost gets back in it with Pulse but I drew well and I drew 4-5 more cards than him.

Round of 4 - Internet BUG SCG Grinder who couldn't find a standard or modern event to attend that sunday

There were like 6 people at this thing on the same 75 as proscribed by the internet. Let me tell you, magic is much easier when I know your 75 to the card and I know what BVP told you to do from his latest article.

Game 1 I have the play and draw no mana. I get mauled by 4 Brainstorms, a couple of visions, and a couple of Goyfs.
Game 2 I get some wastelands, stick a sylvan and eventually murder with a well timed K-Command to clear a path.
Game 3 A strange game. Again Lil gets decayed and he taps out for an agent? I nug his DRS eot, untap and windmill a mother fucking choke. Triple beam Stone Rain! This would have been a quick game but I'm short on land as well. He wastes me. We do draw go for 4-5 turns while I look for any fetchland or a badlands to cast the reams of petrol in my hand all of which would end the game in short order. He draws more fetches than I do and eventually has to Pulse the choke main phase. At this point I've finally drawn land and the one turn I do get lets me put 10 on him, leaving him with one turn with his mana back but almost no outs, I think even Toxic was off board with the damage I'd put on him. Doesn't really matter I still had a stacked hand from the 100 year mana screw.

I would rather pull my pubes out with duct tape than play a SCG invitational so I split the prize with Jon, he gets all the packs, the invite and I get all the cash to buy dinner for my Tusk Teammate who stuck it out after getting ramrodded playing a shitty internet deck.

Ga native here...I enjoyed the read along with the Tusk Talk Podcast you guys do, keep it up. I lol'd @ the Food Stamp Burn play by play. Next time I'm back home I suppose I need to head North of Atlanta for some Legacy.

Edit: I think I was 3 seed. Two seed lost thus I had the play even in the semi.

Congrats on the win, plus plus on taking the money and running. Also glad I have 73 Granger Guildmages before the inevtitable spike.

I think the print run of Mirage is fairly vast, I don't think anything could spike a common. I'll try to play a shitty reserved list rare next time instead of a shitty common.

I'd recommend Forsaken Wastes for your above list. Who doesn't like a shitty Sulfuric Vortex in Black?

Rain of Gore? I think I have too much life gain to run Wastes even though it's a sweet card. Because of the abject poverty of the surrounding area I expected a bunch of Wal-Mart burn thus, 2 x ooze, 2 x humpmasters.

Best two-reports-in-one-thread ever!
You sir nedleeds and sir Jon, flipped my horrible day at the office into rainbows.

Keep those reports coming. Any other tournaments crushed with the UW Trinket Mage and/or Shaved Ox?
Please post.
