When we look back at Eternal in 2015, there’s one thing that stands out: SCG’s decision to almost entirely remove Legacy from the main stage. While this didn’t come as a big surprise to most players, it still marks the end of the great boost the format received ever since the Open Series started putting Legacy into the spotlight. I myself remember spending countless Sunday nights in front of my computer, watching Top8 coverage up until the early morning.
The bad news: these times are over. No more all-nighters just to see whether Chris Andersen’s Enchantress would pull through or what crazy new tech would catch everyone off guard.
The good news: We Europeans now have much better plans for our Sunday nights!
Welcome to the most exciting year of European Legacy ever!
Hey guys, just posted my analysis of when/what/where to play Eternal in Europe in 2016. With the MKM, TOP and Bazaar of Moxen series, there's an abudnance of events to choose from and I wanna help you select which tournaments are best for you!
Check it out on: Mind Sports Academy (https://www.mindsportsacademy.com/Content/Details/248?title=your-ultimate-guide-to-european-eternal-2016)
PS: Please excuse some of the missing "spaces"; from what I know, there was some issue with the code that required a lot of time to fix the CMS, but we didn't want to delay the article anymore.
/edit: because of a server change, I had to update the URL
/edit: Stopped writing for MSA/MSI because they implemented a paywall. Here's free access to the updated schedule for th second half of 2016: http://itsjulian.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/08/EUTournaments2.png

Great summary, I'm putting something together this year. Barcelona once is a f'ing travesty. No Vintage for BoM (which sounds crazy to say given their history) is a non-starter. Taking into account the ability to play multiple events with not shocklands on one weekend is a huge draw. September looks like a sick trip
- September 3rd for Georgia Tech / Boston College in Dublin
- Remove IV bag needed for alcohol poisoning
- London MKM
- Barcelona in the Fall for Vintage at TOP

Great article and overview! This should definetly be pinned
Hopefully all will have great turnouts so EU eternal remains live and strong and most importantly I sincerely hope all organizer will do their work professionaly. I've been in a number of these bigger EU tournaments and to often were the venues not adequate, from the very basics such as sufficient space for play to a (hopefully not sounding to elitist) more than 4 toilets for 400 people, adequate and ergonomic places or ways to post pairings, alocating sufficient number of judges per event and placing them reasnoably distributed across the hall and vigilant for raised hands (we all dislike people who yell like idiots for judge's attention), having catering/food/drinks avaialble for reasnoable price, because you know, not everything needs to be a cash grab.. And last but not least have the events go smooth, without delays or extra long intermissions.
TLDR: What I want to say is I expect the organizers to create a positive experience for players where they will be enthusiastic to be part of these tournament series rather than leave him with existential doubts "this was a horrible, did I hit rock bottom and why am I still subdoing to this".
On a side note (no comment required, don't want to derail the thread): I'm always wondering why the prizes are so low. In average only 50% of the fees are transferred into prize pool. I do realize running big events costs money, but still... I must be missing something, becasue when I'm organizing legacy/modern tournaments (50ish players) I'm able to get at least 90% of entry fees back to prize pool.
On a side note #2: GP Bologna entry fee is 65€, for a mere constucted event, just, wow :eyebrow: Not that it makes that much of a difference between 40-65€ when you are already dropping at elast 300€ per event, but it hurts me still in my hopefully still healthy part of the brains..
Side note #3: wow, really looking forward to EU eternal weekend and what BOM (and WOTC) will be able to muster.
And let's end with a smile to makeup for the bad aftertaste of this post.

Hey Julian,
I tried to fetch the article again but it seems that the link is broken (I get a 404). Could you, please, post an updated link or paste here the calendar table that was included in the article?
Thanks a lot!
/EDIT: nvm, found it

Sorry, for some reason I read it as BoM. I'm a retard, disregard me.

I have looked this up for a future need. Link is down.
Take that back. Found it. But they want me to make an account. Dam.

Yep, looks like it redirects to a messy paywall.

Yeah, unfortunately MSI/MSA have installed a paywall, which is the #1 reason I'm no longer writing for them.
