Hey guys! Going to an event soon that's going to involve a lot of people playing miracles and X/1's so I figured I'd try to brew something that punishes that meta enough so that I am happy and content with life. A few years ago someone at an SCG open had a good showing with BW tokens, so I thought I'd start there and make some more "obvious" adjustments

The key feature of the deck is that it can use zealous persecutions to do some really broken stuff against Death N Taxes and Pyromancer decks, while dominating the skies against shardless BUG, and being a memey piece of shit against miracles.

Thoughts? Numbers are rough, and I have only done a little bit of testing with the deck.

I feel like Sorin, Lord of Innistrad would really want to be in a deck like that. Just seems perfect 'cause it literally fills all roles in one card, the emblem can quickly turn three 1/1 flyers into 6 damage per turn, the +1 gives free lifelink tokens and sometimes you can just stall till you Ult and straightup win from that.

After some testing i have some somewhat promising results
(this is by game wins, not match wins)

All games were pre-board.

3-2 Against RUG

2-4 Against DnT (this matchup is addressed, hopefully, in a version of the deck running diabolic intent)

4-4 Against Eldrazi

3-0 Against Painter

4-1 Against Loam

2-1 Against Miracles

These results are obviously not indicative of how any matchup should play out, but rather indicative of me learning to play the deck properly. I got a feel for some matchup (DnT is super rough and you have to play tight, unless you tutor up a boardwhipe. Then you just laugh.)

Deck does not mulligain well. It might want 23 lands or a chrome mox to accelerate to a faster turn 3 since that's where the action is. Raise the alarm is simultaneously the best and worst card in the deck, a similar theme to bitterblossom.

Non-Diabolic Intent Version

4 Lingering Souls
4 Intangible Virtue
4 Marsh Flats
4 Arid Mesa
1 Verdant Catacombs
3 Spectral Procession
4 Bitterblossom
1 Umezawa's Jitte

4 Plains
2 Swamp
3 Wasteland
4 Swords to Plowshares
4 Scrubland
1 Batterskull
1 Sensei's Divining Top
2 Thoughtseize
2 Inquisition of Kozilek
2 Zealous Persecution
1 Humility
1 Vindicate
1 Attrition
3 Stoneforge Mystic
SB: 2 Rest in Peace
SB: 1 Zealous Persecution
SB: 2 Pithing Needle
SB: 1 Disenchant
SB: 1 Nahiri, the Lithomancer
SB: 1 Path to Exile
SB: 1 Vindicate
SB: 2 Boseiju, Who Shelters All
SB: 1 Humility

When running heaps of tokens, why run TS/IoK over Cabal Therapy?

Ya, more therapy seems insane. do that.

Boseiju seems meh out of the sideboard.

I feel like some number of sorin solemn visitor is needed

this deck looks like the ideal deck to run humility. run 2-3 at the least.

Also lotv seems great in this deck as well.

Drop the spectral and add bobs?

I built something really similar. Bobs can be sketchy with bitterblossom. I feel like Monestary Mentor is welcome here.

Sorin SV giving lifelink is huge and a vault would go far to make racing impossible against you. only 3 drops with singleton batterskull

Humility is simultaneous amazing and utter garbage. If you don't have the removal to deal with active jitte you're just kind of fucked (or enough creatures). Humility is pretty amazing against goyf decks though.

@cabal therapy

You basically need cabal therapy + raise the alarm to achieve maximum value for therapy. Sometimes therapy feels useless, sometimes it is a godsend. If other people would like to test with it that would be great. I am in the hospital so I'll just sit here reading the forum

Part if me wants to run hymn to tourach

Spectral procession seems really expensive. Your lingering souls are better value and you already have four. I think Mentor is awesome here, as you can smash out prowess tokens by casting cabal therapy, sacking to therapy, casting zealous, etc.

Turn one: Cabal Therapy
Turn two: Bitterblossom or Intangible Virtue
Turn Three: Mentor, Sac fairie token to Therapy, get a Monk.

Mind testing mentor for me? Mentor tokens with vigilance seem sweet

Cabal Therapy mostly needs a lot of practice to be effective. When you manage to hit the first blind Cabal Therapy, the flashback can absolutely devastate what's left of your opponents' hand. Always remember there's no need to flash it back immediately. You can always save it for when you want to resolve something important, so you can just sacrifice a token to see if your opponent has any way of messing with what you want to do (and maybe even clear the way). Those type of plays become very valuable when you hit the late game and every card can make the difference between winning and loosing.

Good luck in the hospital. I hope you get well soon!

I'm playing a Junk deck thats a mash of DGA, Rock, and tokens, and I'm testing out a single Gideon, Ally of Zendikar. I think he pretty much blows Elspeth out of the water for tokens builds, and he matches up quite nicely to Sorin.

Pump:
Sorin:
pros - +1 ability, lifelink, can be used immediately
cons - only lasts for 1 round of turns, don't get pump if you choose another ability, no toughness boost
Gideon:
pros - +1 toughness, permanent for rest of game
cons - no lifelink, can be used immediately, but kills Gideon

Tokens:
Sorin - 2/2 flier, but -2 ability
Gideon - 2/2 non-flier, but can be used every turn

Other:
Sorin - Powerful, but hard to activate, and not always relevant, especially in a go-wide strategy like this deck
Gideon - can be used every turn, provides a large threat to punch through ground stalls, provides a clock on an empty board; weak to STP

I didn't test Sorin, because I don't own any, but I really think Gideon has an edge. You can use the pump right away for a massive attack; if you have time to wait a turn you can +1 him (no attack though), and pump next turn to keep him around. He can make tokens every turn without running out of loyalty, and he helps to hedge against Wrath effects, which this seems weak to.

Cool idea that has lot's of sb options. I like Cenn's Enlistment to compensate for the increased land count and it could be in 75 to combat counters and wrath's (miracles) and makes a land able to flashback therapies. Ajani Goldmane fits the theme and can be more aggressive than Sorin, while recovering you from bitterblossom hits if need be.

What about running it as a loam shell? You can run cards with retrace, and still go wider than literally everyone else.
