Listened to the podtalk, the part about how survival would actually be bad hit pretty close to home.
Fighting the good fight.

Sean is right about everything related to vintage.
Why has no one ever tried Rending Volley to fight mentor? Because they just can chain in response to have it live?

That's my take. Regarding mentor the spell faces inconsistency overall. Mentor pilot can still fire off countermagic to bump (or help bump) mentor to 5/5 which is basically countering it. Misstep proves to be miserable even when it can't counter.

I think the biggest problem with EE was how little it was advertised. From my understand there were a good of people in the North East that didn't even know that the event was going on. I guess they thought that the stores running EE qualifiers would be enough advertising. The LGS here also turned out weekly legacy events into the EE point things and no one really knew what they did.
Also here are the lists they were talking about when covering survival if anyone is interested. (https://www.channelfireball.com/decklists/grand-prix-columbus-top-8-legacy-decklists/)

Thanks for posting that link. Advertising was 100% the culprit in my opinion. I was looking for the event 1-2 months out nearly daily and couldn't find hard dates so I couldn't get work off in time. I couldnt find a hard date till a few weeks out. I'm always shocked at the overall lack of advertising for events, it's so important and fairly easy considering all the social media engines.
