[Card discussion] Fire nation occupation

Hi there,

I'm a little bit obsessed by the card Fire nation occupation.
Did anyone try playing this card in legacy? Only place where I can play it is Historic on MTGA and I find it pretty efficient.

What would you pair it with if viable?

Ok, let's try to get some discussion going!

The first card that jumps to mind is Phelia, Exuberant Shepherd. Flash creature triggers it. Blinking it triggers it.

Orcish Bowmasters also has flash.

What do you do with the Firebending mana though? Bilbo, Thief in the Night could cast something from graveyard. But you need a spell that costs at least 3, otherwise Bilbo doesn't need a red (colorless) mana. So that path might not be worth it.

You could more easily use the mana to crack Tamiyo clues or Ninjitsu Kaito.

You could try 2-3 copies in an Esper Riddler deck like this:

But isn't it winmore? if you're attacking with enough fire warriors to get enough mana for a (nearly) free activation, aren't you winning already?

I was going blue black indeed in my mind, but felia is a great idea to bounce fire nation occupation.

Yeah, that seems win-more. If you attack with 1-2 tokens, you're already ahead. I like the idea of using the mana on Tamiyo clues. You're already playing Tamiyo and making clues anyway, so you're not forcing some mana-hungry card.

If the token isn't blocked, you can even use the R to Ninjitsu Kaito with only UB open! Players will not expect Kaito with 2 untapped lands. They might not block to play around Bowmaster instead.

You can bounce the Fire Nation Occupation to replay for another token, the plus turning your Sorceries into opportunities to make another token, seems like it uses every part of the buffalo if you're in Esper colors.

Teferi could work. For curve reasons, there probably isn't room for both Kaito and Teferi, so I could see cutting Kaito + Void Rend for 2 Teferi. But then you also get tokens for Pondering on opponent's end step!

Right, that was my thinking, more opportunists to cast on their turn.
You'd have to decide if you want to be a slower control deck that incidentally makes 2/2's as you hamper the opponent, or the aggressive tempo deck that gets under the opponent and maximizes every opportunity.
If you try and do both it'll just be a bad pile of cards.
