I can't foil a deck in legacy, or rather I refuse, because simply I cannot foil my entire deck out without making subpar deck choices (shocklands in place of duals because I can't foil duals). You run non-foil Chains, Duals, Sylvan... Just hunt around and find a clean set of AN apes, won't be that much different, but you'll have the clearly superior (and not superbendy, i'll grant you the hatred of FTV foils) Apes.

I really love the fact that there are so many ways to pimp cards, depending on personal tastes, incomes (of course), collectors vs players .... !
Some go for global sets (shivan, dark rits, trolls, gobs, angels ........), some go for the ultimate rarities (summer, testprints, alpha playtest ....) , some go for extreme alters and signed cards (Jordi and Antonio are just way out of control on this particular pimp :tongue: ), some like Garfield's old signature (yep they do exist !), many other go for foiling out decks, language pimp..............etc etc etc

It is really a pleasure to have a look at everyone's posts :smile:

Not hard to guess what kind of pimp i like :tongue:, though i'm thinking about going for a global set of :

I keep my Library to either side of the area depending on how much room I have. I find that it's more comfortable if it's on my left. If I'm playing casually, I keep my life on a 20-sider in front of my library. If it's a tournament, I keep it on in a notebook to my right so I can easily write them down as I'm right handed. I keep my graveyard next to my library with my RFG cards turned sideways underneath it. As for the play area, I keep my cards separated into 3 tiers containing creatures, then artifacts/enchantments, then lands.

Those are the few cards that I own that I'd consider minorly pimp. It's not much compared to some of the other cards, but I'm happy about my playset of Karakas (bought before the price tripled). The other things are just some good Highlander staples. I really wish I could get some of those cards signed though, but none of the artists come to any of the events here in Finland.

Library (horizontal) in the top right corner with the graveyard (vertical) beneath with just the names showing. RFG usually goes to the right of the library (vertical). Lnads go down by me and then it is whatever permanents. Usually creatures in the middle and other stuff off to a specific side. That all sounds anal but it is just the way I end up having it every game and its what I like.

I spread my library out one card by one card and just throw my permanents on my playmat. If they stick then thats where they stay. Graveyard, don't have one...I usually just rip up anything that would go there. I don't allow my opponents or myself to RFG anything. I just play FOWs for 1 life only. It usually works out well for me.

I second that. In rummaging through my grandpa's old junk, I came across a heat crimper for food wrappers. I wondered about whether or not there is a standard size crimp for something like Magic cards vs potato chips. I'm thinking your crimp looks more like a potato chip crimp. :confused:

Anyhow, I chose not to haul the thing back to my house and flood the market with crimped cards. Instead, I secretly know that crimped cards are likely the most risky investment in Magic considering how ridiculously easy it would be to counterfeit them.

yeah, but MINT power isnt everywhere. I figure that deck was what $3000 at most and mint power is like what, $7000. I dont care how long some stuff takes to collect, $4000 is a huge difference.

I think it really depends what was the dredge build. Japanese LEDs are expensive as shit. I mean also it depends on who is pricing the cards. Some places sell Beta Moxen for ridic prices where others do not. I feel the buy who got the Power made out, because if dredge goes to hell, it has little value, p9 will always have value.

I have this same question. I've had this card since I can first remember. The front and back where the crimping are are pretty much mint condition, so I doubt it got caught in the zipper of a bag (like I first imagined). Are these worth something?

Haven't prepared anything to scan, but I'm in the midst of putting another scan of 9 cards together. The next main pickup, if everything goes well, will be a blue tropical storm. Pretty damn exciting for me.

I've also half-heartedly started putting together a white stax deck -- the cots I posted are in there, and the geddons should all be summer by the time I get through, as should the basics. I'm just really ambivalent towards having to gather all the foreign cards that I don't have. I'll post a pic if I ever get it done.

I suppose I won't bother taking pictures of my recently "completed" Aggro Loam since it's basically "just the same" as majikals deck. The only "pimp" cards in it are the 6 fbb dual lands and maybe the lone Guru Forest.

@ majikal: That's a really nice deck you have there. I must say that I also prefer my deck black bordered and in english if possible. (I can live with foreign bb duals though). For me, signed cards are "the thing", and getting more signed cards would be the only way for me to get my deck more "pimp". So far I have only playset of signed Wooded Foothills and a lone signed Engineered Explosives.

But I must admit, I do like his deck, although as he's not pimping but making his deck look pretty, I wonder what Kird Apes he's running now. Can't be 8th, can't be FNM.

People here seem to like only asian and foil, everything else is crap to their eyes. But Who said standardized taste is good taste?
Imho it's the opposite. Foil Jap is not personnal, a specific alteration (made by the artist, of course) is. I'd rather have a normal signed card that I made the artist sign myself rather than the same foil jap card that's on every forum.


I started "pimpin'" my decks with my favourite legacy deck: Landstill. Now I pimp all my decks with the same rules. Here they are:
1. BLACK BORDERS everywhere. And when this is done, the next step is Alpha/Beta. (these are much more pimp in Europe than in the US because we haven't had access for these cards for a long time)
2. ORIGINAL VERSIONS of the cards. That means IA Brainstorm over Mercadia Brainstorm.
3. Only readable cards. That means for me English and French. NO ASIAN. I don't like wasting time in the rounds because my opponent has to call the judge every time I play a card (they already call him when I play Humility, and the deck is really slow, so...)
4. NO FOIL (I don't play Pokemon. Those are for kids.)
5. SIGNING everywhere except on old expensive cards (Duals and Alpha/Beta).

I know it's considered a budget deck, but some pieces took me months to track down, namely the Golgari Grave-Trolls, which I ended up paying $7 each for (not expensive, but a pretty high premium over English). Ichorids have been illusive, and I only have one Chinese at the moment. The deck isn't finished in the pic because I'm really not sure whether to Chinese out the LED version, which would mean tracking down Chinese Unmasks, or the non-LED version, which would mean getting some Tireless Tribes. I was originally going to track down FBB (as in limited edition) LoAs, but, and I know this isn't popular, I really like the Timeshifted Chinese cards. The look new, clean and they have an easy-to-read font. Also, since all the other creatures are new, old just looks bad. (Edit: oh yeah, and this version actually has the errata where he's a Merfolk, unlike the other FBB Chinese version.) Force of Will looks horrible in this deck. I really hope I get a Chinese FoW reprint soon. :smile:

Yeah, I'm so impressed with the look and feel of Timeshifted, I might actually just go for Timeshifted Gemstone Mines for Dredge. The price difference between WL and Timeshifted is only $1. Still not sure because older cards in Chinese are certainly more pimp.

I like the Foil Version better than the Japanese Mirage one. It's just a personal choice. I guess, after having 2 playsets of Japanese Mysticals (1 regular, 1 altered by Omar Gómez) for many years for my Legacy combo decks, in the end I got bit tired of them. When FTV:Exiled appeared I loved how the foil version looked and made the switch.

This are some nice cards Pizzero but

1) We have seen like 90% of tose cards before in previous posts. Nothing more boring in a pimp forum than something which has already been posted.

2) Even though I have seen your (insert altered card) in at least 3 other posts it sucks that I can't see the whole card. Any chance we could get a good scan/pic where one can actually appreciate the altered cards instead of seeing just the left 20% of the card...

3) If you actually did post better pics of the altered cards I would probably be bored because it would be the 4th time they have been posted.

I have not been writing here before, but I thought I would share some of my card collection.

It is just card scans and not a deck but I hope it is all right.

I am both a collector and a player, I especially like to collect the older cards. I am not really into foreign language, foils etc. In my opinion it should be pure English and old cards :)

To mention is that I am just into NM cards and as you all know, getting the old cards in NM condition is almost impossible. At some times they turn up on Ebay, and when they do they always tend to be VERY expensive.

Keep in mind how hard it is to find old / japanese foils. Even with a lot of money, you'd still be hard-pressed to find Foil Jap Breakthroughs, etc. (For example, There are 0 NM Rishadan Port Foils on ebay / other online sites right now)
