I tend to play control or Storm. I'm only missing the 3 scrying sheets and the Orim's Chants (which I need for storm anyway). That was a tough one.

Yeah, I mentioned white stax because assuming I play a ravages/geddon split, my deck will be completely maxed out with everything that can be summer being in summer if I choose (basics and geddons). I used to, and still do (on mws) like to play FEB, so if I ever finish a bb set of foil exodus sotfs I'll post that deck.

For such a rogueish deck, I'm thouroughly surprised you managed to put it together in such a nice way. I like the WoG split (bonus points for the portal one!) and those foil snow-covered plains are sweet. Hell, I don't think I've ever even seen a foil Snow Plains before.

@Occam: even if half of the cards were still in screw-downs/toploaders/safety vaults, I'd still love to see the staxx deck assembled. Has to be the sickest thing ever.

Too bad there's so much old stuff (scroll rack, mox diamond, moat...all unavailable in foil), but aside from that gitmo (http://sales.starcitygames.com//deckdatabase/displaydeck.php?DeckID=34516) would be gorgeous deck to see pimped out as well.

Korean is nice because it is scarce, out of print and doesn't have foil. So i don't think jace in korean foil would be cool at all. I guess it s a matter of taste though.

I think your boycrush on bryant maybe clouding your judgment. I went back like 3-4 pages to the last copy of his deck that you had quoted, so Im assuming thats the most recent. I wrote everything down and quickly checked the prices on ebay. Not counting the half assed sideboard, which looks to be around $100.00 or so. The price I could essentially buy his complete jap foil TES deck with FBB duals would be like $3090.00 + SB. So lets just say $3200 total to be on the safe side. The starting cost for EX white bordered p9 starts at approximately $3500 and goes up. So I guess you were kind of correct in the sense that I was wrong and those 9 white borders are actually worth more from the start, not equal, in addition to exceeding the jap foil TES value.

Also, I find it kind of amusing that someone with FBB duals cracks on WB power.

i think it has nothing to do with your mentioned "boycrush" on bryant but just with general knowledge on pimped card prizes.

I came roughly to the same amount for the TES deck as you but seems like the prizes for P9 differs from ebay to shops in Germany. So $ 3.000 is approx. the value for them over here.

Still i have to admit the prize is "close" but please don't forget it takes far longer to complete the TES deck compared to the P9 which makes them more valuable in my eyes.

Again i also have to admit that if combo dies(won't happen soon...at least i hope so) the prizes will go down again for the TES cards which won't happen to the P9 as they slowly go up time by time.

Not sure if anyone has noticed but power isn't exactly gaining price anymore, it's losing it. I sell a couple each month and Moxes are not one of my favorite things to trade for now. I've been clearing them out. I'd rather have FBB duals any day. I usually get more for those. Only the Black Lotus is holding any sort of value due to it's slightly iconic status. I recently let a Mox pearl go for around 250. I was sad it went for so low, but that's the way it's headed. The buy it nows may be up there, but they aren't selling. Those FBB duals in Bryant's deck go for more than moxes now on a regular basis, especially the Undergrounds. Even Ancestral Recall is starting to show that Vintage is getting it's ass kicked and people are calling it good and moving to Legacy or standard. I've been selling all my power since real estate is safer than an investment in vintage stuff anymore.


Anyway, I'll post up my 43 Lands next.

When it comes to how pimp WB p9 is it falls somewhere between basic lands that have black lotus written on them in sharpie and gaming etc p9 proxies. Any well made proxies are a hell of a lot more pimp than unlimited.

I don't really play much type 1, but if I do I'm going to run my proxy p9 over any ugly unlimited ones I may have at the time. There's no way I'm going to have something as plain as unlimited p9 in a deck running jap foil delta's and Ron Spencer alters. Speaking of Spencer alters here is one of my newest acquisitions...

Yes I am serious about the jap-foil snow- covered plains. they are worth more then more then they should be and I also have a hard time finding them. i have only found 9 in about 10 months of searching but they are easy to find compared to the jap-foil Scrying Sheets. I have only found 1 in that amount of time and it was way more then i should have payed for it.

I figured a lot of people would cry foul, it's getting pretty old; especially when all they do is post Jap Foil (so original), Beta so beat up they might as well be Unlimited, or shitty alters with garbage all over them - alas that's just my opinion.

Pimp is very much in the eye of the beholder. Even stuff that's a little played is still considered pimp. My idea of pimp happens to be the blackborder version of the picture I like on the card. Most of my decks are all English nonfoil blackborder, or German nonfoil.

Example, Mishra's Factory. I love the AQ version to death, so I have ten of them. Are they all NM? Not all of them. Is it super pimp? I think so. :cool:

WB power might look good if its nm or next to wb korean cards, but its not pimp. There is nothing special about it since its not rare and isn't flashy. I'd rather play nice p9 proxies since they're flashier and probably harder to come by than unlimited power. Its definitely in better taste to run proxies next to jap foils and artist alters than to ruin a deck with plain old unlimited or english foils (misprints and other things like extreme alters are exceptions).

I can't speak to the City of Brass, but to answer your other two; German Ice Age is all kinds of hot sauce (I have a copy of Pox in German and I want more like nobody's business), and they made Korean Rituals in Urza's, so you don't have to choose between Korean and BB if you don't want to.

I think they do exist if I remember right. It came in a limited fashion though. You could buy it from these old box sets that had a bunch of packs from all different languages at the time in one set. You got either Korean Mirage or Visions, i forget which one it was though. I had a bunch of Korean cards from those box sets, I loved them.

As a Korean collector, I can say with 99.9% certainty Korean mirage doesn't exist.

Mirage was released in Japanese as the first released Asian language, Korean followed with Visions. Not sure if Chinese was released together with Korean or even later....

I know the printing of Korean was stopped after Urza"s Saga, but I am interested after which set they stopped printing both traditional and simplified Chinese and went with only simplified. Traditional looks so much better!

@Dahcmai, if you still have some of those Korean cards, let me know which ones you have and are willing to say goodbye to. Especially if they are from Visions, I only need a couple of those for my first complete set.

Chinese and Korean started at the same time, in Visions and in 4th.
Korean stopped after Urza's Saga and 5th.

Chinese was just traditional at first.
Simplified Chinese started in 5th and Portal 1.
Traditional Chinese ended after Mirrodin (the set, not the block, DS and FD were only simplified)
Traditional Chinese has started up again as of M11 and Scars of Mirrodin.

In the very beginning there were two different kinds of DCI-Membership: Regular and Premium. Premium members were awarded promotional Incinerate + Counterspell (non-foil) as well as box containing boosters in different languages, if I remember right. My box contained a Korean Weatherlight Booster including a Disrupt I still use from time to time. Spell Pierce made those obsolete, though... on the other hand I stopped looking for a second one.

A local trader in London opened up 58 miscut Elspeths, all far more severe (the card title is cut off the top and appears on the bottom of the card) than the one you've posted.
Actually, a friend of mine bought a playset from him, so hopefully he will post up some screenshots of them.

The ultimate miscut that was opened was a Tezz title on the bottom and the picture of Elspeth at the top. If you do a search on Ebay for "miscut Elspeth" you should see what I'm talking about. All the miscuts have perfect backs i.e. they aren't miscut on the back.

Agreed, there's a reason Guru islands alone go for $40-50 each, but most importantly, it's by Terese Nielsen. I'd say the only land that is in front of Guru are the Summer lands because of the rarity and price, but whiteboarder is blah =/

Time and time again, we've discussed the order of "Pimp." If you don't agree with it, that's fine: it's a personal choice.

I'm a fan of Shards of Alara basics because they look really nice. I'm also a big fan of Alpha/ Beta lands. Many people prefer Guru, it really doesn't matter. In terms of price, Summer Magic is the "nut high," as Sauce would say.

Back is miscut like the front. I always ask judges, and have never had a problem with the Island. Opaque sleeves cover it just fine.

Well, Gencon had no problem with it. I always check my misprints with the event's head judge ahead of time to be safe.

The test print Forest is white-backed and slightly thinner than a normal card; that one I don't play in sanctioned events.

It's because Jesper Myrfors is the artist. As far as i know he don't show up to GP/PT and his signatures is quite rare. It's very ugly though, so it's not really a loss. But i'd like some signed plains as well to match my other signed lands.

His are Alpha edition, not Beta. The corners were cut differently in that edition.

They can be depending on how you have your deck sleeved, but generally speaking as long as you are using opaque sleeves I've never had a problem running my alpha basics over beta ones.

Alpha is a little bit harder to come by in some places (and overall), and some people actually don't like it, that's why you don't see it as often.

NM A/B anything is always a nice find.

Alpha lands are hard to come by because we destroyed so many of them making Christmas wreaths, Paper airplanes, making lunches to losers and the like out of them. They were some of the most hated cards of all time back then. Open a pack, WTF another Land? The idea was to have packs give you the land you needed, but it got annoying real quick after you got a decent set going. Starters of Beta and Alpha were especially bad at giving you way too much land. Never open one of those if you can help it. It's worth way more sealed unless you luck out, which is pretty hard to do. I used to hate Beta Island more than just about any card due to the fact it would replace your rare a lot. You can find joke pictures still running around of how people destroyed Alpha lands making stupid junk.

Meh, I've seen infinite Alpha lands for sale. I've sold through hundreds. There are probably at least 50-100k out there, which is a fair amount.

-1 Brainstorm (eng), Use my 4th jap. in my vintage deck

I'll try and post German Legacy White Stax tonight. Stax is just one of those decks that feels like it's got a German personality, almost. Japanese would also work too, but I hate Asian language cards, and the deck can't be done entirely in Russian, so German was the next best.

I'll post the 2 versions hopefully, Armageddon and Dutch. It's not completely done, some are still in the mail, so cut some slack.

I'm with you on Stax just "feeling" German. I think it's the fact that it feels like you are behind the Berlin Wall once you get your defenses set up. Or maybe the efficient but strong cards it runs. I've been working on a similar build myself but am having a hard time tracking down a few of the cards. Any suggestions for places that I could get German singles that ships to US?

I suggest finding someone on MOTL from Germany, or in Europe in general, to get cards for you, and you just pay them and have them sent. Or, I can probably hook you up, Hook (no pun intended). They'll be a bit more expensive than English counterparts, but I'm sure I can get it for you, as I have a few sources inside Europe :wink:

My UBGR Landstill deck. My idea of pimp is the nicest art I can find in the language I prefer, and this usually ends up being blackborder English copy with the nicest art. Duals are Revised since I don't play with my Beta/Alpha duals, so don't rag on me about them. Highlights include 10 duals, Decree, Jaces, massive gravehate for Vengevine :cool:, Mirage basics (I like these a ton), and running Firespout in the main. Deck's fun to play, and decent to look at.

Mono White Stax done mostly in German, not totally done. Since my photography skills are terrible, I'll provide a list of translations of the English titles into what they say on the cards. Mind you, German City of Traitors and Mox Diamond are a real bitch to come by, as I've seen more Korean ones for sale than German. Haven't done the Ancient Tombs or Trinispheres yet, and I hate the look of German Wastelands.

Interesting choice for a signature on the Forces. I'm curious why you chose to have Saitou sign those. He signed some Coralhelm Commanders for me at the Portland GP which is why I recognize the signature.
