sorry for this crappy quality, but I still don´t have a scanner available. I´ve been lazy at the end and did not finish those Leylines. Little Girls are obviously Zombie Tokens; it´s amazing to crush peoples faces with a horde of them :) I have about 40 of them sleeved up and a total of 197 collected so far...

this is a really interesting take on pimping this deck, i've partially pimped dredge (my version is way hotter than yours btw :p) and i think that along with enchantress, this build is the prettiest in legacy

Tape the parts you dont want to erase, then go over it with Acetone. Easy but takes some time. Dont scrub hard, be gentle ;)

@Fern: Nice that you've finished it, I am almost done with it as well, good job!

Towards WB-ing cards: It is just way more easy and safe to tape the parts of the cards you dont want to erase and then gently get rid of those blackborders with a rubber/eraser. I used one from "Pelikan" which has a blue (more rough) and a red (soft) side. Just use the blue side and make sure that you dont rub too hard and that you taped the card accurate and with very loose tape, otherwise you will end up with tearing apart some thing when you remove the tape... . Happened to me quite a few times at the beginning.
Acetone has some risks and cant ruin the card way more easy than the tech mentioned above and is, AFAIK, cheaper.

Again some people will hate me for posting this in a "pimp-legacy" thread but heres some stuff i picked for my casual "Golden Highlander", i also think its in the eye of the beholder as its on the card flavour and not on other players opinion whats pimp or not. Also i think as some of those cards are actually hard to find too, some stuff of this collection will be worth some $ at least in 20-30 Years :D

if they're in really good condition get them rated first (the duals) - i think the prices have been pretty stable this year, so i doubt they'll jump up or down, if you need the money it's a good time to sell imho

the problem with beta duals now is whenever i shuffle them i feel like they are losing value. and i have far more than 40. i thought i had 55-60ish but turns out i had some more in decks already :rolleyes: so closer to 80. also i don't ever do fbb stuff. the fbb stuff look horrible and out of place at least for the earlier sets in magic.

I upgraded my signed and dinged Beta Taiga (sorry Markers) for an unsigned NM one, and boy am I happy.

Plus, today, I received 2 Volcs and 1 Underground in the mail. They were waiting for me when I returned from the airport. In total, I received 2 Volcs, 1 Sea, 1 Trop, 1 Badlands, and 1 Plateau this weekend :)

The first scan is of the set, minus the Volcanic, as my new nice one is listed in the second scan.

The second scan is new stuff I've gotten this week.

Nice collection, Matt. Beta duals are so beautiful. At some point I hope to see them in person at Mirkwood or something. I regret selling the ones I sold, but I'm glad I kept a few for myself (2 Seas, 3 Tundras, 4 Trops, 1 Taiga, 1 Savannah). I usually play something in Bant colors, so this modest collection works for me.

Also all the alters are crazy good. I still really like alters by the artist (like those Dan Frazier ones).

I would ask the same. There are certain artists that just sign so much stuff it's not even really worth it. I would honestly value those Jap Foil fetches less because Rob signed them. I'm not a jap foil fan anyways, but I personally feel that defaces the card.

Now I understand there are certain artists who don't sign or very rarely sign.. I can understand that being worth something simply due to the fact that they're never at GPs or don't like having mail sent to their house with cards saying "OMG PLEASE SIGN".. but I really don't get the attraction to having them signed.

I was joking but I was actually referring to the unsigned alpha/beta duals as being "rarer" the more Alexander signs them. Which is a good thing for the purist collector (unless he's in the market as a buyer). Even then, he's paying a premium price for a premium item.

A few months ago, a few people emailed me saying they were offering $400 per delta, and they wondered why I wouldn't sell them for these kind of good prices, saying another dealer would sell them if he had them. Look at the price of delta right now a few months later, at least $600 right now.

I don't know how much is actually disposable. For example, the reason we haven't seen all of grandeur84 shit before is that there was an electricity bill that was converted into lands instead. He then learned he can't tap blue duals for electricity, quickly went to kinkos, scanned them all, sold them, and shared the pictures with us. Which he can now do because of the aforementioned electricity bill being paid.

Yes I remember people really well, I know who you are. I saw you at the GP, you were just slightly in front of me doing the alterations. I love the feeling of being unknown locally though, its quite a bit of fun seeing people come up trying to lowball on rare stuffs thinking I'm just a random guy lurking around. In fact, had quite a bit of foreigners coming up to greet me at the GP, seems like foreigners know me more than locals playing non eternal formats, which helps in keeping me low profile enough for my liking.

Daarken is definitely one of the friendlier artists around, but he was extremely tired at the end of the day. He said he won't be using his old sig anymore. I only got 4 Nature's Claim and 2 Praetor's Counsel altered. Got one of the d tutors altered, but won't be using them over A/B ones anyway. Didn't alter the rest of the foils.

Eh, I tend to drop a lot of cash on whatever I find too. Money tends to grease the wheels of everything, and stuff is a lot to find when you have throw greenbacks at it. I find a lot of people are happier dealing with me as I generally maintain a good level of appreciation for what I bring in and rarely sell my rarities (everything that I have scanned and will scan is still in my possession) solely for profit. Taste differs too -- I've never dealt with or been interested by miscuts in a serious fashion, but I can see why others are. I like summer, can see why others don't.

I should probably scan more stuff soon, as I've got a lot of it lying around unscanned. Got most of the top tier summer cards that I haven't scanned, along with stuff I don't bother scanning (leaving the betas to people who appreciate them more, like sdematt) but my next project is to obtain a complete set of a certain expansion's test prints and form one to two decks with them. I love to see scans of all kinds, though, gives me something to do during the rare breaks at work.

Is that Andrew Goldhawk's Signature? Pretty unique! Some signatures honestly look like scribbles. I thought someone scribbled on a Tolarian Academy once and later realised it was Stephen Daniele's Signature. LOL.

Picked up a Russian-non-foil Maelstrom Pulse for my Aggro Loam deck. Not too pimp, but I hate foil, so that's as "out there" as I'm willing to go.

I also picked up my Plateau today. It's very nice, probably EX+ but it has a tiny indent. Card still lays flat, but there's a minute depression when you turn the card and view it towards the sun at about a 10-15 degree angle. Oh well. I got it for a good price, so I'm fine with it.

So far, I'm at:

3 Plateau
1 Savannah (alpha :(
4 Scrubland
1 Taiga
1 Tropical Island
1 Tundra
1 Underground Sea
2 Volcanic Island (one is for someone else, 3 total atm)

Yeah, I am running Child of Alara with Grim, Seal, and foiling it out (just got the Karmic Guide; only 6 foils to go!), and FBB duals...still need a Volcanic to complete that part, though.

I've wondered about that, as I tend to see Korean Visions stuff a little more often than Japanese in general. It was the first expansion they printed in Korean, so maybe they overprinted it comparatively to the print runs in later sets...?

Korean is rarer and no it's not wierd. Korean stuff is just under the spotlight right now, therefor more liquid, which explain why there are more Korean vision stuff than Japanese (since "no one" really want japanese as korean exist). I remember the time when korean wasn't that hyped, there were simply no korean cards at all on ebay. Also good luck finding true NM/M Korean NO.

I know every pimp person has their preference but I just wanted some opinions from the masters. :)

1. Should I stick with my altered tinder walls or continue trying to find the Japanese theme deck reprints?

2. Should the lotus petals be foil, Japanese, or Korean? Korean is the most pimp, Japanese keeps the whole deck mostly Japanese (Everything except the Elvish spirit guides can be japanese), but FTV foil keeps the deck foily.

Also, anyone have any Japanese foil Chrome Moxes or Xantid Swarms?

In my opinion is a nice list. The only thing I dislike is the 3rd Counterspell missing from maindeck.
Leylines are questionable, I'd never play them over Tormod's Crypt and Extirpates, but this is probably a personal choice.

Are there any good sites for easily obtaining foreign cards? I'm not a fan of foils in legacy but I do love foreign stuff. Jap stuff is always pretty easy to find but I have a thirst for german and russian non foil cards that ebay cannot quench.

I have a very similar deck, I went with Korean petals and found Japanese tinder walls. They weren't too hard to find (Michael French on MoTL had them and you could probably try one of the Singapore traders too). As far as I know Jap foil chrome moxes are some of the hardest things to find these days, I would expect Xantids to be equal.

Every time I visit MCM I weep a little since I live in the states and have no friends overseas.

where is the point in playing pyroblast over reb anyway ? there are rare situations where it matters that you can not misdirect reb to lands ...
i would be surprised if you get kaja (or richard thomas if you go for reb) or la williams sign or alter your cards these days :P

Pyroblast can be used to increase the stormcount by casting it on anything. REB can not.

MKM is always overpriced though from my experience.
This is mostly because the platform is pretty easy to manipulate. People are trying to push prices all the time. For example ... you can take any amount of cards in your shopping cart and then they are not visible for anyone else as long as they stay in your cart ... there are some more examples like this but nevertheless you are able to make really nice purchases with some patience.

No no, I'm pretty sure all of us (except you, Valter) rate Spanish, Italian and Portuguese at the absolute bottom of the Latin languages barrel. English and German and French seem to stand out, as far as I recall most people's opinions.

I'll be honest, I don't see a ton of people going after Italian FBB's, or Spanish cards in particular (except Spanish IoK, get it?). To each their own. I know Mr. C loves Portuguese, but he's also from Brazil :P
