@PaRa: I usually play a B/U/G list in Legacy similar to the lists that appeared on the SCG circuit shortly after Snapcaster Mage was legal. But I do also enjoy Bant lists quite a bit and G/W Maverick is another of my favorites. A few of the other cards are for EDH, which has become my obsession, or just for collecting purposes.

@dernestor86: If you have one strand you are willing to part with, just name your price and I'll try and match it. If you want cards/cash, either or both works just fine.

RS4 is awesome! That car is a monster, lol! When I sold my collection, I had the money to pick up an S8, but ended up picking up a 7-series. But the RS4 is a blast to drive, so much power!

(disclaimer: My collection wasn't *that* good. I was looking at used cars. Much cheaper.)

I have an entire affinity deck that is foiled out w/ the frogmites signed, an artifact deck is cool to have foiled, it's still in the same version i had it at when i completed it, which was less than a month before they put the ban hammer on all the artifact lands *except citadel) The ravager, the vault, etc. I priced it out once and its actually worth more now (as of 2011/2012) than it was back then when it was the first mirrodin block in standard.

The only other cool foil setup I have is an old sligh deck, it has DCI jackal pup, DCI ball lightning, Odyssey foil Grim Lavamancer's, JSS Slith Firewalker, DCI fireblast, the old foil lightning bolt, FNM Rift bolts, the new foil chain lightnings (Otherwise I'd never have foil chain lightnings, or anyone >^,^<) Foil Seal of fire (Which will become Foil goblin guide when they come out with the new promo for it) and some foil mountains of course, all onslaught or older mountains. There however, is 4 non foil's in it, because as far as I know, there are no foil cursed scroll cards out there yet.

I guess the most expensive cards I own are Candelabra of tawnos, had to get them to play the proper version of spiral tide. I have a modern, almost mono white splashing red control deck I'm considering foiling out, but the sacred foundry and arid mesa foil are gonna be a pain!

The MPR Wastelands are rather old, and use the same art and frames. Only difference between Tempest Wastelands and MPR Wastelands besides the obvious one is nonfoil and one is foil is the expansion symbol and the flavor text.

So maybe someone can help me out here, because I'm quite stumped. I recently got a miscut High Tide and part of the bottom border is white. It wasn't painted or anything like that, and is naturally part of the card. The card itself is still the same size and such as any other card, not like it's extra cardboard or something. Here are the pics:

The top border of the backside of the card is exactly the same size as the white part of the front bottom border. I haven't ever seen a miscut of a Fallen Empires card that has a border color issue, and as I know a red card is beneath High Tide on the sheet. Is this kind of thing common? Or could someone explain exactly what happened here?

This particular High Tide is on the bottom of the sheet - there is no "other" card to bleed into, just blank card stock.

I see a black band on the backside, but not on the front. That means the centering was off from back to front, and explains why you don't see the white stripe on the back side.

Avalanche Riders (Kastle), Rootwater Thief (Long), Meddling Mage (Pikula), Shadowmage Infiltrator (Finkle), Voidmage Prodigy (Budde), Sylvan Safekeeper (Rade), Solemn Simulacrum (Thorén), Dark Confidant (Maher), Rakdos Augermage (Soh), Ranger of Eos (Ruel), and Snapcaster Mage (Chan)? Some obviously more busted than others, but neat theme/concept I guess either way.

That would actually be great. Not least because pro Magic players tend to be cool guys, in my experience, so meeting the guys would be just as awesome as coming away with the autograph.

Not a lot you can do to dual lands as far as alters go. But with other stuff (Moxen, Goyfs, etc.), Guru alters do seem a bit overdone. That's just my opinion.

Also, following GP: Indianapolis - expect to see a Big Macintosh Mox Ruy (or maybe a Trixie Mox Ruby), a Pinkie Pie Ancestral Recall, a Twilight Sparkle Time Vault, and (maybe) a Princess Celestia Black Lotus.

Wow, that Moeller sig is one of the few that I think actually looks great (on the deeds and the bolts). Also love the arena us lands. I love the old arena foiled lands from a/b iceage and us, basically the ones with the text instead of the mana symbol in the box.

IMO go with Big Mac on the ruby since he's red. Trixie would look better on one of the big blue cards XD

For nitpicking's sake, I'm almost positive Gemstone Caverns was an Invitational card, though I can't blame you for forgetting about it (offhand, I can't recall anyone doing anything Magic-related with it that was more than a pipe dream/god draw).

A lot of the Splinter Twin decks played it as a one-of in PT Phili last summer, because it sped up the clock when it hit, and wasn't too harmful otherwise.

I've got the judge wastes because they're new boardered like most of the deck's foils. If the deck was mostly old boardered, I'd have gotten player rewards ones.

Thanks, the foil ports were just terrible. I sold my set of goyfs to cover the cost of most of them, but they cost around 120-140 usd each

My EDH Deck. I don't do Foil (I know I know, I'm a pretentious jerk), but I have a lot of Alpha/Beta cards in it. Basically this deck is a nostalgic representation of the early years of magic when I started playing the game. It includes all the old school cards and strategies that I either played or played against and now as an adult I can afford the Alpha versions of the cards.

I toyed with the idea of using only the old card frame for aesthetic reasons, but that would limit me from a lot of mana fixing plus I like the option of playing some of the new cards and don't want the deck to be too static. Basically it's important the deck retains an old school look and feel to it so I prioritize old frame cards particularly cards from Alpha and early expansions. There are two FBB cards in the deck. I have English BB version but they are in my T1 collection which takes pimping priority and I don't want to own double English BB versions.

Lastly, since I'm not into foils, one of the ways I pimp the lesser expensive cards that cant be found in Alpha/Beta is to get them signed, there there are a number of random signed cards, which I would like to get more of. I have a signed Sower on the way. If you notice an inexpensive card I don't have signed and wanna help me out, PM me. Also, I'm replacing the Time Stretch with Temporal Manipulation.

You can't tell from the pic but that Beta Forcefield is pack fresh. One of my favorite old school cards and favs in this deck. Also just upgraded my Chaos Orb to Beta. I realize that card is banned but I have a local rule that says that you chose (not target) one card in play and flip on it, instead of the whole field and if it touches the chosen card it's destroyed as well as any equipment or enchantments on it. The rule seems to work fine. Regarding the Sol Ring - my Beta one is in my T1 deck, but that mint signed Unlimited one looks really pimp and I like how it stands out being WB. Mana Valut is signed.

Invoke Prejudice is a crazy card. Haven't had much experience playing with it but it seems pretty good, especially after a board is wrathed which happens a lot in multiplayer. Also just got the Alpha Stasis so haven't tested it, but that is one of the coolest looking cards and the effect is so crazy that it has to be fun in multiplayer. Plus it's a freaking Alpha Stasis! Treachery and Persuasion are signed.

Went with foil basics just to help distinguish them from the rest of the deck. I feel like beta basics is a bit overdone. Yep Dakkon is my General. When I decided to make an EDH deck knew that the general had to be from the original Legends expansion. Couldn't find an elder dragon I loved so went with Dakkon which I'm happy with.

I did actually play with my Beta duals at the GP, and it was nice to see more than a few people come up and be, "Are you Sdematt from the Source?" That was pretty awesome. Nice to meet y'all :cool: Too bad I ended up getting destroyed by poor draws, by the pimp kudos from opponents kept my spirits high.

I managed to get a Korean Volrath's Stronghold, Korean Ensnaring Bridge, Beta Tundra (picking up in a few weeks), Beta Vesuvan Doppelganger, Beta Chaos Orb, Beta Bayou, Beta Fork. I chickened out on a Beta Forcefield and Mask, since they were a bit too played. My Beta list to get before I can post my Beta set is:

The devil altered Liliana of the Veil is actually foil, and the full art foil Liliana of the Veil was printed directly on to a nonfoil Liliana of the Veil and is numbered 65/200. There are breaks in the printed layer where the original name and casting cost, +/- abilities, starting loyalty, and artist credit of the original nonfoil Liliana of the Veil show through.

I don't really like the M10 ponder because there are already approximately 300 cards that use balls representing the different colors of magic. Even though M10 ponder doesn't represent the colors but time, all I see is another card with balls.

The Lorwyn ponder was the ponder as it was intended to be. In fact, I think it should have been a Tribal - Merfolk Sorcery. The flavor text fits the artwork very well too. When you look at the sky from underneath the water, everything is distorted. The best part of it is that it has the Lorwyn art direction though. Lorwyn was one of the most beautiful sets/blocks in Magic history. The most important reason however, is that I have a rule to only acquire cards in the original foil printing. The only alternate art I'd accept is 7th edition foil.

I believe Savitar also collects by this rule, judging from his Wastelands and Lightning Bolts.

That is true. Lorwyn is just awesome, even if I can't take half the card names seriously (Especially in german. Quietschkuchen-Schleicher anyone?).

I for myself don't like the Lorwyn Ponder that much because of that Merfolk in the picture. I am not the biggest fan of including Tribes in such a deck, even if it's just flavourwise, so I stick to M10. M12 is something I would not want to play though. I am pretty picky when it comes down to details and I hate even numbers that don't end on 0. Can't help myself.

A completely different question regarding FWB-Duals. Why are they so cheap?
I think that the printed numbers of those do not distinguish so heavily from FBB and in terms of availability I never had the impression that markets are flooded out with them, like Revised for example. The colour that was used to print them is also (like FBB) a bit darker than Revised which looks way more classy IMO.

I'm going for Unlimited duals right now for my artist to alter into Gurus. Mainly because they're darker than Revised and don't have a tap symbol, so they'll look Beta after he's done. Got six of the forty again - 2 Underground Sea, 2 Tropical Island, and 2 Volcanic Island.

I prefer BB. But even with my well-paying job (for only have a two year degree), dropping four digits of cash on one card four times and almost four digits of money twelve more times and then $500-$600 for the rest is a big stretch of my disposable income. Getting Unlimited and having them altered (with the borders being blacked out with acrylic paint as part of the process) is much for affordable and once they're in sleeves, they look perfectly Beta from across the table.

In fact, at GP: Indianapolis, a lot of people who saw me playing Vintage with friends did not believe my altered Power was Unlimited until I desleeved them so they could see the glossy finish to the borders from the paint.

That is something personal. I never had a soft spot for all classic Legacy decks (which is basically the case due to my rather late start with the format) or a lot of cards people consider their Legacy favourites.
Cards like Dark Confidant, Humility, Sol-lands, Mox Diamond, Dark Ritual and a whole lot of staples that give people chills doesn't appeal to me and I am not seeing me playing with any of those cards any time soon, let alone collecting them.
I haven't played any T2-format competetive to really apprecieate the majority of cards that are legal in Legacy.
Decks like Solidarity and Canadian Threshold are somewhat exceptions and I really loved those decks at first sight.
Threshold has/had so many cards I love to play with and got to know as I started playing the game that it is almost impossible to find an equivalent that means so much to me in terms of flavour and style.
This is no hating at all, seriously, but I would prefer a minty Fire/Ice or Werebear over a crimped russian foil Dark Confidant with all sorts of misprints any time. I just don't feel those cards *shrug*.
Invasion/Odyssey/Onslaught - block and 7th are my all-time favourites so it is not a big surprise that this is one beauty of a deck to me.

Another issue is the fact that if you intend to regularly play with you power, in long 6-9 round tourneys it's kind of pointless to track down gem mint alpha since they won't be gem mint for long. I've been trying to track down beat to hades beta power over the course of the year to get ready for Gencon.

Down to ruby, sapphire, ancestral and lotus remaining to find.

I've seen the "anti-pimps" before - people in Vintage (I even think I've seen it in Legacy a couple times) with everything WB'd, and if it wasn't available in WB (like Mana Drain and Force of Will), they erased the black border.
